Just showing a map I made a bit ago cause I was bored
not very good, I really don't wanna hear the shit that
comes outta some of your mouths
keep it topic based (even though I know you never do)
anyways...here...

For those that stay mature about the thread, thanks
I recommend reading some mapping tutorials, there's a lot of room for improvement.

Mapping errors I spotted :
- Mountain tile is only for world maps
- House is one tile too high
- Door is only for indoors
- Too empty
- Too few trees
Have one of your dead people escaped?! There's a great big hole there :O RAMPAGING ZOMBIES!!! :blizj:
As for the rest of the map, pretty much what Leventhan said. But fear not - it will come to you eventually I've only just learnt the art of cluttering maps till they are about to explode...
Not sure what's wrong with the door. Maybe the guy that built the house was a bad contractor (See Holmes on Homes for more info :p)
And if it's set on the plains then the lack of trees is understandable.
But yea... either big house, or small mountains :p
I'm not sure if you will actually find this helpful or not, but I decided to 'redo' your Inn in an attempt to help. If you don't want the help then just ignore it. Anyway, this is what I came up with -
Original:(https://rmrk.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi138.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq265%2Fcodemeister1990%2FMap_showoff1.jpg&hash=60094eae3e339cc439e1936e85a332a3863c269a)

The black square is where the evented door will go. Without it you look like your walking into the wall!
Hope it can give you some tips..!
Might as well join in. I'm too lazy to add the waterfall autotile and events.
It should still serve as a good guide though, codemeister.

Happy mapping ! :D
I knew you would come along and out do me :-[ But you missed out one crucial thing!!! A door to the Inn :D But I do like the way your inn is made... Good job!
I was too lazy to add events lol - the correct way would be adding a black space tile in the 2nd section of the tileset and then add a door event.
Meh, I've never been one for cluttering maps
I realized I shouldn't have used that mountain tile
I'll remember that next time about the door/building
LOL! I like how you put the mountains on your map.
The in is like 5 times as big. :]

Leventhan is a show off nyah nyah nyah :P
Just kidding. Nice mapping :)
@codemeister
You'd better try it as soon as possible or you'll never get better ;o;
@Grafikal
Oh noes! ;-;
Thanks~
Cluttered maps aren't that great
Leventhan's map isn't at all cluttered, and should be what you are aiming to produce. Sometimes you might be able to get a better result with more clutter but not in this kind of map. Remember when you are in game you see something like 10x10 (verification please? lol) so repeated objects won't notice nearly as much. It also means emtpy space will get very boring. And if it's boring, you lose the players.
Bigger than that, it's like 13x17 or something, width is greater
It's 17x13, I think. I agree with what codemeister's saying but only to a certain extent. Too much clutter isn't good, but emptiness is as bad. A little clutter is always nice - for nature maps at least.
I'm inclined to say that the visual distance in game is 17x13 (8 squares left and right, 1 down the center, and 6 up and down, 1 through the middle) Or at least, last I checked it was. Or maybe that was after I added 1 to each end :O . That's probably cause my game has 0 fade screens from map to map and is rediculously fluid lol. Also makes mapping 10x more a bitch :mad: haha.
Also, yes, Leventhan's mapping up there is prime. It's what you should be going for. Say that map was 20 blocks larger, then it might not have been enough and felt empty, OR, if it the map were 10 blocks smaller then maybe it would feel cluttered. But what he has going up there is a perfect harmony of decor and space. Not cluttery at all.
Then it occurred to me that you may be referring to his use of grass decoration. That's normal. Step into the wild sometime and check out all the random chutes of grass, weeds, and flowers. Personally I think his map could stand to use like a single weed decoration tile (which imo is the yellow flower one...one of them anyway) Anyways, my point is, his map is very believable. It's what everyone should want to have unless the game is some sort of odd genre.
listen to Leventhan.
I've never seen maps in VX look as good as his.
Thanks guys, I'm flattered by the kind comments :D

I was going to put the yellow flower somewhere near the waterfall but decided not too because it made the overall color a bit
off-balanced ;o;
*replays the glad commercial in his head* rub it in rub it in...
=o
You can make it happen code.
They really are trying to help you C-meister it seems like you are taking it like an insult.
seriously, don't follow the same path as people like BillyBullTwat
we're telling you how to get better, it just takes practice and effort.
I know I know
just havin some fun :P
