Title: Consant Error No Matter What I Do
Post by: southernnerdguy on November 28, 2008, 06:16:28 AM
Downloaded RM2k and the RTP. I used to have it years ago where it just came with the basic 4 Chipsets and assorted Character Sets. The one from your site contains a buttload more than the original.

So I open it up and all the chipsets are blacked out. Ok, fine with me. I just have to set up all the chipsets by hand. Well, I tried that. When I applied the changes, I got some error saying something about chipset 489...or something similar.

The message won't go away and I have to CTRL ALT DEL the game. Now, when the game restarts, the chipsets are assigned. But everytime I make a new one, it repeats

did you install the regular rtp, or the 1.32 rtp? chances are, you only installed the 1.32 and not the standard rtp. if you still plan on using rm2k, for whatever reason, installtion of RTP 1.0 is required get it here http://crankeye.com/?page=downloads

The second rtp is an updated rtp by don miguel, don't worry the basic chipsets and program should still be there.

I'd reccomend reinstalling, or if that does not work, it may be incompatible with your OS. Sorry man.

no, 1.32 is an expansion. if you want the basic stuff (and less chances of running into missing file errors), get 1.0 and install it, since it has the fonts as well. if you still have issues, do this;

install RM2k
install RTP 1.0
install RTP 1.32 (optional)

If you're using vista, you may have to jump through a few hoops to get it work.

also, are your maps referencing the proper chipsets?

or:

QuoteQ: Assertion Failure: D Lucifer\home\rpg_rt\etc...?
A: What happens is. When you Import a chipset (for example), add and configure the terrain in the database, and make a new map using that chipset. If you delete the chipset by reducing the Max Field Number in the database which deletes the Chipset, the map still looks for it, and that causes the error, it happens right after you click OK the database, and every time you try to open the game. You may still be able to use rm2k but you will not be able to save any changes or delete the map. Most likely it will cause an Illegal Operation and close rm2k.

does that ring a bell? If not, try sending a screenshot of the error

Also, if you do use the 1.32 RTP, tell people who are downloading your game they need it. I recently made this cock-up...
