Do you end the event with "erase event"? If so, unless its like an autostart, you don't need to do that.

Does he disappear before, during, or after you interact with the NPC? If it's before, it might be a character sheet flaw if you using a custom character sheet. If it's during, do you have any other events that might affect this one in anyway and how? And if it's after, then did you:
