I don't like the direction they're going with their applications. It's the same functionality with a bulky interface. It might be good for new users, but I just end up with less real estate. ~_~
They for some reason don't have Videos in the right side of the start menu, they did this in Vista too. Why are all of the media folders EXCEPT videos there? That's stupid.
The left sidebar in the explorer window looks nice. It looks familiar to something (http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/8450/finderleopard018527397df3.png) though. =c
Still waiting for more information on Windows Vista 2. :V :V
Why isn't this like leopard this is gay :mad: :mad: :mad:

what? Too me wordpad looks not only 100% more eye pleasing, its new interface shows me tools I would have never known it had.
If your not for new looks and same functionality, then go download windows 98.
Looks like a lot of wasted space to me. That's actually what I thought even before I read anything irock said.
So let us have our opinions.

I don't care if they show more tools, just don't make it so bulky. It looks like fisher price designed it. I'd go back to Windows 98, but it doesn't have the same functionality as XP and Vista.
Let's make it exactly like Vista, except we move some options around!
Seriously what the fuck

that's what custom skins are for
if you're smart enough that you actually think about those things, then you probably have a means for fixing them.
honestly, I don't mind the look of vista, I dislike the ram-heaviness of it.
if they fix that in Windows 7, then I'm game.
Vista SP1 seems to work just fine for me :/
also in b4 Mac vs PC
You can use windows classic still so meh

The classic skin won't make it less bulky. :x
Vista takes up 1gig of my ram to just sit there and do nothing. ;9
HERE YOU GO:

Looks even uglier than Vista. I'll stick with XP for another decade.
My dad forced me into vista, and now he spends all day complaining about it .-.
Oh haloofthesun, i wish i could join you in all of your XPness ;o;
i've been thinking about going ubuntu, i'll feel better now that everyone else in my household has switched ;o;
why does it remind of the operating system on that guys computer from ironman. windows 7 i mean.

Ditto. The first thing I thought was that it'd be a lot like Vista: looks cool, a coupla new nice features, wasted space.

EDIT: Not to defend Windows 7, but that guy is a complete moron if he thinks Microsoft is the first business to not take ideas from their competitors and use them in their own products. HURR MAC SHOULDN'T MAKE COMPUTERS THAT USE RAM BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T COME UP WITH THE IDEA OF RAM FIRST DURRRRRRR.

4 things
1) it's not a dock, theyre icons on a quick launch, just like XP and Vista have .-.
2) his entire video has useless effects just so he can try to look cool
3) his signoff is fucking annoying.
4) where's awesomewinperson when you need him?
god, who compares an organized quick launch to a fucking dock.
The only thing that reminds me of OSX is the right click on Windows Media Player. =x
I normally wouldn't be annoyed by it, but Microsoft was making it out to be some sort of original idea. I hate when companies do that. ;o;
they make it out to be a feature that they programmed.
everything is adapted from somewhere else.
I didn't see it as making it seem 'original' so much as
"this is new in Windows 7 [compared to it not existing in Vista]"
if they didn't try to make the features seem cool, useful, and important, it wouldn't sell.
it isn't the dock because the dock is a trademark by apple. (yes a legal trademark)

oh yeah, a few more things I forgot to add.
1) hurr durr the start button is on the task bar just like in every version of windows. they just decided to make it smaller
2) the context menu on the media player isn't actually the same as the itunes one. The Itunes one on the mac is showing playback options and program options, and is more of a standard 'right click' menu inside the windows program. the context menu is actually showing library navigation tools, so it's less about "shuffle repeat off" and more about "load up X or Y playlist". Not quite the same.

wow, what the hell?
one step forward and three steps back
Yeah, really. That says so much about so many things, I don't even know where to start.
Being able to change your wallpaper is a privilege.
Wow this sucks. Guess i will have to go with the best version when it comes out.
What I meant in my last post was about including "Virtual XP" in Windows 7. That says so much about Windows, and people in general. First off, it shows that people were/are highly likely to keep XP for yet another generation of WOS, and that Microsoft knows this. In turn, it also shows that they know that Vista was largely a flop. I'm struggling to come up with an analogy for the situation, but it's sort of like saying, "Buy XP again, and we'll throw in this shiny new bonus: Windows 7."
