Title: Open Your Eyes To The World Of Music
Post by: Malson on May 13, 2008, 01:02:59 AM
Alright, here's a big thread for people to post awesome bands in that some may not have heard of. I'm always looking for new music, as are a lot of people on here that I know, so if you're interested then this thread is for you as well. Just post bands in the following format:

Band Name

Link to band's myspace or purevolume page

A little description about the band (genre, mood, etc)

Closure In Moscow

One of the best post-hardcore bands I've heard in a while. They're somewhat progressive too, and have some really powerful music.

Claude Debussy

The father of modern music, he pioneered the movement from Romanticism into Modernism, essentially creating his very own personal genre; Impressionism.
It's music that washes over you and absorbs you into worlds of fantasy.

Anti-folk music lol. There's no good songs of hers on the page D: Awesome acoustic music based off of modern themes.

Pain

A one-man band from Sweden. Peter TÃĪgtgren, most likely synthetically (without instruments) creates his own Industrial Metal (http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Industrial_Metal) music. Other people play instruments for him in videos and live.

The Reign Of Kindo

One of the more original bands I've heard lately. Combines indie/alternative kinds of music with jazz and swing, and the result is incredible.

For pop, this is actually really interesting music.

It's the kind of music I'd be ashamed to listen to publicly, though, lol.

Seconded.

Deathstars

Another band from Sweden. The vocals are all mostly low-pitched, and in my opinion, and in a few others I know's opinions, this is a pretty good Gothic Industrial Metal band.

I guess Alternative Rock or so ~ I always get mixed up on genres. Their most popular song is Weighty Ghost, but I don't like it very much. In any case, I think they're a great band.

I would have put up Belle & Sebastian but I don't know if they're too popular for this thread.

This thread isn't limited to obscure bands. I mean yeah, putting up something like Zeppelin is a little ridiculous, but I'm sure at least half of the people here haven't heard B&S, so I don't see why not.
