The Battle System
A few of you may be familiar with GubiD's TBS, in short, we've raped it.
Fuck SP, we use Energy!Instead of having mana or sp, we have energy. Basically, this prevents the player from spamming all of the best skills in one turn. At the start of each actor's turn, they gain some energy (players with less armor gain more energy, Leon will gain the most out of all characters). Moving and attacking, in addition to skills take energy.
Support Conversations
No turn crap.If you've ever played Fire Emblem, you'll know what support conversations are. For those of you who have never played FE, support conversations are conversations that can be seen if two characters spend enough time on the field of battle together. Our system is somewhat different than fire emblem, instead of wasting time not ending the battle to keep two characters next to each other, if two characters just participate in a battle, and the end of the battle the conversation will appear.

Personality: Incredibly overconfident. Prone to great outbursts of anger. No religion, but follows a code of morals.
Backstory: Mathim is the bastard child of a land owning noble. His mother was unable to provide for him, so he was given to a monastery, where he was trained in martial arts. Ironically, instead of growing up to be religious warrior, Mathim renounced god, refusing to see how a merciful god existed with so much suffering in the world. After leaving the monastery to see the rest of the world, Mathim wandered around aimlessly, doing whatever it took to make money, as long as it stayed within his moral code.

Personality: easy going and sarcastic, he likes to poke fun at people harmlessly, though many would take what he says as a pure insult. He's generally the comic relief of the group, keeping morale up and a smile on peoples' faces. He's a good friend and would stand by those he forms bonds with
Backstory: Leon is a wandering soul, going wherever the wind takes him. He claims to be a beast-man from a small village hidden in a mountain range, though he has yet to speak a name or even a location when asked.

Backstory: Her family was exiled during the early years of the High Counselor's reign, "For the greater good..." and her parents resisted and were killed. She lived in a settlement of outcasts and took care of the younger orphans who nobody even looked at. (this is where she got her motherly instincts) She began working as a jester on the streets to make enough money to get the rag-tag family by.

Personality: Rayner is a very kind and gentle man; very helpful when the need arises. However, around sexy women, he is very flirtatious and sometimes vulgar.
Backstory: Born in Iita to a high ranking officer in the military and a prostitute, Rayner grew up around weapons and sex. His father was never around enough to discipline him--especially when he died in battle--and his mother was always whoring herself out to men and women alike, thus causing him to become the man he became. Parentless and alone, he joined the ranks of the military, learning how to use quite a few different weapons. He enjoyed spears the most. He was always put on guard duty, despite his expertise with spears.

Personality: Type A personality, a born leader. He's loyal to his nation and his friends, and has high moral standards. Is very calm and collected, and doesn't get angry very often. Simply commands authority as though second nature.
Backstory: Formerly a loyal Iitian subject, he was exiled to the surface 5 years ago due to 'crimes against the state,' and was never heard from since. Little is known about his wareabouts now, but he is rumored to be amassing an army to invade the Iitian capital, if he is not already dead.[/spoiler]

Just an oldish screenshot of Rune's animated custom menu system. It supports every actor in the party. Option 7 shall be replaced with the config menu once I fix it so you can't leave the Team battle mode.

Alright, here's the deal with character abilities.
Each character has a special ability that they can use in battle, I'll give a rundown of all the characters up so far.
Mathim - Counter - Any attack or skill used on Mathim will be counterattacked as long as the enemy is next to Mathim.
Leon - Guerilla Tactics - Leon will move up to two spaces backwards at the end of his turn.
Anathala - Cover - Ann will take the damage of any ally near her who is low on HP.
Rayner - Iron Skin - When Rayner is below 20%, his defenses triple.
On Leon, does he do that everytime, or is it voluntary?

he has low defence, and low hitpoints.
he is a quick striker. You have him attack, and then he jumps back two squares to avoid counterattacks, and to give you room to put someone in there so that he isn't destroyed in the next turn.
I don't see how it makes you want to let him die.
