Title: [Music] A new techno song I'm working on = D
Post by: memyselforwho on April 26, 2008, 04:36:08 PM
It's not the full version yet, but I'm half way through... (Please excuse the sharp synth that just randomly beeps (1:05-1:11), I haven't added the proper instrument yet).

I uploaded on Zshare so you wouldn't have to download in order to listen, Thanks a lot and all reviews are welcome.

Well, its sorta good.
I cant say much. I can say that you are a beginner and you may do well in future if you continue trying.

[zypher]

This is not much (it is a little) good mainly because of 2 reasons :
1. EW FL :@ (not that it sucks, i just dont like it much. Fl has made good songs thought, Blizzard for eg. ;-;)
2. It is damn predictable, atleast for me.
3. That part at 1:10 where that flute sorta thing plays..those 3 times it plays is real bad ;-;

[/zypher]

Well, keep trying and try different styles. You may be better at them ^_^

Yeah, thanks.

I am not a beginner. this was my first attempt at techno on FL after moving away from REASON. (Posted my second attempt as well).

And like I said in my earlier post, I do intend on continuing as there are some who appreciate this specific style of music, as far as Improving, I have plenty of that to do.

WHY WOULD YOU ABANDON REASON FOR FL? lol

...I'll listen to the song shortly.

Edit:
Not much to be said here. Rather formulaic, wholly generic, and oddly reminiscent of a track from the nineties, when labels would take a single from one of their artists, create a dance remix of it, and then release it as a separate single. One could say "cheesy."
Some really nice synth sounds (VSTi? I'm not entirely sure how FL works), but in the form of painfully repetitive arpeggios and standard, predictable sequences.
You can certainly add more instruments, perhaps an unexpectedly complex or progressive lead melody or an uncharacteristically dark and aggressive bassline... something unusual that could sharpen the edge on this type of music. If you decide not to do much more with it, certainly keep the synth that "randomly beeps."
It's very structurally secure, easily danceable, and would not be out of place in a mainstream European dance club. It might as well be an attempt to revive disco, albeit in a diluted form devoid of funky overtones.
It's strung together tightly enough to suggest that you know what you're doing, and thus I'm relatively anxious to hear something from you which doesn't unintentionally seem like a satirical history of dance-pop.

Of course not. I LOVE REASON. I just kept hearing people rave about how great and easy FL is. I've already deleted FL haha.

Thanks for the reviews.

Lol at last three posts... I do not like the triplets you put in for some reason. I kinda don't like how it's just... blech. I can't explain.

Also, main theme sounds like "I Like to Move It." :V And the ending was not satisfactory.

But this could be good, I guess. The techno isn't too complicated so I don't enjoy it that much. For me, it's like pop rock where it's just catchy or w/e but it doesn't necessarily sound too good.

It only sucks when you use preset sounds. I usually make all of mine. I know im going to get bashed for using it, BUT i dont have any money to dish out. No job....

I'm not going to bash you for using FL, but I'll bash you for bringing this horrible topic back to life.
