Post by: ChronoTriggerFTW on March 21, 2008, 11:14:58 PM
I'm a big Noob to the RPG Maker. And i keep hearing all these things about scripts. I hope to learn enough to make a great game, and hopefully start a huge project where i can get a website and keep updates. So to start mu knowledge, you people van help y telling me What scripts are, what they are used for, and how to use them properly, Or you can just leave a link. I dont want to look all over the website for a tutorial on them! Thanks Much in advance!

They are non-existent in 2k3. Scripts were only introduced with RMXP and so only XP and VX actually has them.

Also, you should put your huge project on hold until you learn how to use the program well. I'd suggest you start by making a few small scale projects and once you have a good knowledge of events and mapping, maybe then you can start the big project you have in mind. A lot of people who start with a big project get lost quickly and quit the program

Listen to Modern algebra. If you start a big project with little experiance, you might get mad that you can't do everything you want and quit. Start off small, and gain experiance.

If you want to use scripts, use rpg maker XP or rpg maker VX. They are complicated though, so just use events for now.

1. Personally i think events rule everything.
2. Scripts are tough to make but make your game easier and better too. If you have someone to make em' and like the RMXP style, then use them
