Title: [Visual] Recent Sketchbook Pages
Post by: garygill on February 07, 2008, 06:34:40 PM
Currently working on two major pieces.  Here are some of the planning sketches I did in my sketchbook.

Architecture is super fun to draw, isn't it?!   I doodle stuff like this all over my notes.  And every time, I says to myself, "Self, someday you will make this simple doodle into an awesome finished piece!"  And then it never happens.  Yossy is silly.

Yes, I do enjoy drawing architecture.  It is good to draw a variety of things.

Hehe.. I always give up halfway when it comes to architecture. My brother is far more talented than me about that, well.. that's his work after all.

I think I'm in love with your waterfall sketch... XD
...and the temple.. I think I have seen that kind of temple somewhere before. Hmm...I can't remember...
But I absolutely agree with K, More, yeah!

Oh man! Those are great...
Two things.
1.) Where can I find a blue pencil? I love the look of drawings done in it

2.) How does one draw architecture so well? I've tried, yet I can't. Do you study existing architectural elements and then base your work off of that?

HAHA, I LOVE ARCHITECTURES.
They're so sturdy and solid.

I'm glad you guys like this stuff.

@Dante - I'm sure they sell them at any art supplies store.  They are called "col-erase" pencils.  My school's bookstore sells them so I always buy from there.

Drawing anything is just knowledge.  The better you understand what you're drawing, the better it'll look.  When drawing architecture, remember that they are just shapes within shapes.  Observe buildings in real life and try to simply what you see into simple shapes.  Once you understand how the stuff fits together, the details are just icing on the cake.

Sorry for double post.

Alright so I roughed out the first piece with blue pencil.  I am not happy with the composition at all so I'll be redoing this.  But here is what it looks like:

I'm jealous. I can't draw worth $#!&, and you could probably paint the Mona Lisa if you wanted to.  ;9
