Even though I don't technically celebrate it('cause here, you don't, unless you're Chinese or from Chinatown), yeah Happy Chinese New Year!   ;8 Oh, and are Ang Pao's those dumplings or something? Now I'm hungry for some.  :hurr:

I dreamt about a week ago that I was going to go out and celebrate it, which has now led me to believe that there are no connections between my dreams and real life. Which sucks.

Red envelopes.

Strangely enough, I always get those Ang Pao on Christmas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aguinaldo).

BTW, what does the color red have to do with the envelope? Is it some kind of good luck charm?

It seems that in China, red is considered as a color of prosperity and fortune.

Yes...red is beautiful. =)
Don't you see my av-sig are reddish? I simply love red coz my name is 'Akane' though my kanji means 'Baby' T_T
and most of my friends just call me aka-chan, aka chan...ugh. 'Aka' means red!
Though I'm not really celebrate it, friends of my parents did gave me some. "Red envelopes for Red Girl" Lol.

How much did you get, Jappy? You're half chinese right?

Wow, you're lucky. I've only gotten 2, since most of our relatives and family friends are in Sydney and we're down in Canberra...

Anyways, I didn't get red ones this year. I got a Raymond Lam instead <3
Oh god my scanner stuffed the quality up. It looks heaps better right next to me :D

I think the Chinese New Year was on our national poetry day. We ate cake. Lots of it.

Happy new year ?_?
