Title: Odd question here....Whats the Squares for in the tilesets?
Post by: Treign on February 06, 2008, 02:21:41 AM
It's been a long time since i've been here. I just layed off rpgmaker for a while as i got to much into it. I've been searching around and i cannot find the answer to my question. You know how there are X's And O's when you set up a tileset? Well.....whats the squares for?

Next question, Anyone use RPG Maker VX yet? If so how do you find it working wise?

Yeah, sorry about that, didn't read your question quite right at first (deleted my first post while you were typing yours). Squares are for walls, so you can go through the lower part of the wall, but not through it. Don't worry, I don't think you'll need to ever really use it for anything other than wall autotiles.

Ok, X means you cannot passthough, O means you can pass though, and Squares are walls...How do they work?

It is for autotiles and allows the impression of walking under the autotile. For instance, roof tiles and forest cover tiles would have the square on them. That's probably the best way I can explain it, but in words, it is something like this:

Wherever there is an autotile block, having the square allows you to walk along the outside edge of the North Side

Hey modern, Long time since we chated. I still don't understand, hahhahaha, as i was writing this a light bulb came on and now i know what it does thanks. Have you tried VX yet? I'm sorta looking forward to getting it. I'm not sure about spirits being 32X32 though.

Yeah, it's good to see you again

I've tried VX, but I think I will stick with XP. I dislike some a lot of the things it has in there. I think it's on the download page if you want to try it out yourself.

Nah, it's not in English, and I think I lied about it being on the downloads page :P

But you can get the japanese trial from enterbrain. You will at least be able to take a look at the resources and to try your hand at mapping.

I'm too busy here now. I picked up makin a game here again, starting over and not making it as complicated so i can actualy finish it this time. I don't know if you tried Memories last year, there was alot going on and when i put it down for a few months i coudln't pick it back up becuase there was much going on and i didn't know what i had done. Well, if i make any resources ill be sure to place them here for the taking. Thanks for the help on the Square thingy, it was really bothering me and i felt like i would be considered a noob asking a stupid question like that, but it bothered me that much i had to ask lol.
