Title: Lookin' for a job [Closed for a while]
Post by: Revo on December 09, 2007, 02:04:24 AM
Yeah, I'm kinda tired of working on only my projects. I'd like to help other people with theirs! Also, I've nothing better to do. :tpg:

Alright, here are my skills for those interested.

Story-writing: Yeah, I know. YOU want to write YOUR story. This isn't what I mean. Say you want some ideas for bonus missions, or just want some help to get past something, that's where I come in. I consider myself pretty talented at coming up with stories and ideas. You can't tell by my projects since I hide the best parts of the story, but you can see my tutorial on Story Writing for Beginners. I'm lazy right now and will link to it later. >_>

Graphical: I can do simple icons, sprite edits, and recolors. I have decided that I will NOT do spriting. Recolors and simple edits are still alright though. I can also attempt battlers. I'm mildly good at that.

Mapping: Alright, I map. Pretty simple right? Well, I'm also very fast. Here is some of my work:
(https://rmrk.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi159.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Ft157%2FFinal-Knight%2Fexamplework4.png&hash=12bb4b4b6045d73532730437c59453545b584d25)
Made in about 10~15 minutes.^
(https://rmrk.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi159.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Ft157%2FFinal-Knight%2Fexamplework1.png&hash=094792ea616f551f22991cfdea91f804c42517f3)
Made in about 15 minutes.^
Mapping is really fun to me, so I'll do it as much as anyone likes, just as long as I'm not mapping their whole game!

Eventing: I'm mildly talented with this. I say, if you have an event that could be challenging, give me a shot at it. And I enjoy eventing, so I'll do some regular events if you so wish.

Design: Alright this kinda goes with story, but I am actually taking classes to become a professional game designer/programmer at my local college. I've been told I'm amazingly talented when it comes to design. Design is, for me, creating characters, creating worlds (i.e. maps or settings), story, special systems (i.e. battle systems, mini games, etc.), and a few other things. So, if you want me to help with this, you're almost getting an actual professional. (Just one more year, then I'll be officially "professional") Also, when it comes to weapon designs, I can come up wit some really off the wall stuff.

Well, odds are, I've missed something, but for now this is all. Oh, I'll also do testing and blah, blah, blah. :P

I must tell you a few things...

1. If you ask it, I'll try.
2. I will NOT do any scripting, so don't ask. (I'm still only learning that.)
3. Don't bombard me with requests. I'm only one man.
4. I have a MSN, but it is reserved for friends and important business.
5. If I say I can't do something, I can't. I will never say "I WON'T do_____" (Except for scripting)
6. I will want some credits if I think the job was worth crediting.
7. You never HAVE to accept what I do for you. I won't force you.
8. I'm a nice guy. So don't be afraid to ask for something. ;D

Well, I think that's all.

Oh, and... If you request something.

Type out your words.

If I have to ask what you requested because it looked like this...
Quote
i wnt a drgon sprit 4 my gaem
...You're not getting your request. Got it? Good.

Thanks. I forgot something.

I'll mostly just do RMXP, but as soon as I get around to downloading RM2000 or 2003, I'll help with that too.

Hmmm...

I might be able to use you, but I need some more info.

How good are you with graphics and Photoshop?

Say I gave you this sprite:

(https://rmrk.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi59.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fg320%2FBridgeman_2006%2FCronov1.png&hash=9f402d0bee7e7723cbb293ad08fe363e8c340ab8)

Could you turn it into something like this? :

(https://rmrk.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi59.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fg320%2FBridgeman_2006%2FCronov2.png&hash=d18dd24fa32d0fee561a2135785230d308184d5b)

Also, with Photoshop, could you create something like this? : http://www.chrono-crisis.com/im/wallpaper/CC_Wallpaper_LS2_1280.jpg (http://www.chrono-crisis.com/im/wallpaper/CC_Wallpaper_LS2_1280.jpg)
And can you draw digitally? (Characters, I mean)

I'm also very impressed by your mapping skill, but I don't have any use for that right now. I mainly need a good spriter and graphical artist, and if you can do what I mentioned, you'd be more then welcome.
Title: Re: Lookin' for a job
Post by: Revo on December 22, 2007, 02:36:51 AM
I'm not the best spriter. ;9 I can give heartfelt shots but, they usually don't turn out very good. As for digital artist... I'm pretty decent. Graphically, you could do better than me, so only use me if its a last resort.

Oh, and I started messing with RM2k3. I'm doing kinda decent in that, so I can help with that too.

Edwin, if you still want me, just PM me and I'll give it a shot. ;)

oh did you try out my mini-map event?
Title: Re: Lookin' for a job
Post by: Edwin VanCleef on December 22, 2007, 03:04:03 AM
Well, I just started a custom project, so I don't really need any spriting or graphical things done right now anyway.

However your mapping skills are quite amazing, so I think I might ask you to do some maps in the future. It's good to know you're available.

I could use a mapper for my rm2k3 project as it happens.  I can map myself, but i get too involved in eventing and this, that and the next thing...i tried to make my lil' snow village and wound up just continuing the story...then i realised i needed a cave...a started to make that, but as soon as the basics were done i just continued with the story...
So good maps could help me a lot.

Although,it should be mentioned, i've not actually worked with anyone else over this, this is just a project being done on one computer so far and is my first, so...you may need to teach me a few things bout internet-teams.  If you're not game for that, it's cool.  I won't ask for more than you offered...

If you're interested, my topic with the project details, screenies et cetera is in rm new projects thread called 'Zanshin's Story'.  I'm lazy too so no link...  :-X

Give me a shout if you're interested  ;D

In the second screen, the waterfall dissapears, it should come out from behind that plateau,
and they both look a little empty

Agreed about the waterfall and that the cave looks rather empty, but i reckon otherwise good.
If you want empty maps, try havin' a look at the Chapter One Cave/Town in my game....they'll=l stay like that for some time...

Okay, I'm kinda late to the game here, (so let's hope my position holds at least a LITTLE bit of sway :V) but check this out:

We're literally fresh born in this, and I've already got a big RPG Making name (at least here, and as far as I can tell. If he isn't he definitely should be) and a great idea man on board, and any extra help that you can offer is entirely welcome. I'm the only spriter so far, ahref is helping to come up with map ideas, and Skanker is out battle systems specialist. Even if a job is already taken that you want, don't even ask, just pool in. Here's hoping you like the idea!

With RM2k3... You'll have to give me just a little while longer to get acquainted with it first.

In the second screen, the waterfall dissapears, it should come out from behind that plateau,
and they both look a little empty
Heh, I should probably post some maps that I have done recently... Those are a few months old... I do better than that. :P

I gotta say... I'm a bit confused at to what you are saying... Although... It probably has to do with the fact that I'm completely drugged up at the moment. Trying to kill this sickness.

Well, I think that covers this... ;8

did you try it on XP?

if so, could you post a message on my topic which says it'll also work on XP?

Hey, no rush from me.  You're makin' an offer, i won't pressure you.  These maps can wait till the end, it's all just about makin' the game look better, that can be done at any time.  I'm just workin' up the story right now, i've even passed these areas...i can't convince myself to map more; i'm just too into doin' all the other stuff....i'm havin' trouble with an optional boss right now, so i'm spendin' all my time on that ....

I'll definitely hire you if you post up some more maps you've made and I like what I see.

Question, are you a good speller?

I need an editor and beta testor, someone to help me trim up my game alot. You get the uncrypted version of the game of course, but I'll need you to pretty much read over evertyhing and fix all the spelling you can, as englis is my second language, I do have alot of things I can't catch, and also I just need a beta testor for some heavy testing.

The thing won't be ready for a few weeks, but I just wanted to see if you'd be willing to take the job. But do be prepared for some really long sittings playing the same thing over and over again if you do want the job...and alot of note taking too.
Title: Re: Lookin' for a job
Post by: Brady on December 30, 2007, 04:29:43 PM
I might be interested in that actually.  I read your post for it i think, and i don't meet some of the requirements (for example, my rpgmkr experience is limited) but if nothing else, i'm big on spelling and your game looks great from what i saw in the projects section.  I even recently got into an argument with someone here when i corrected their spelling, so if you don't want me to beta test, i could even just look over the dialogue and fix any errors (although i should warn you, i would make it all real English, none of this u.s . English shite that likes to deform words and spellings....
Anyhoo, so i don't jack this thread any further, pm me if you're interested?

Brady and Dertt: I'll map for you guys if you want. Just PM me a request or post it here. I attached some more examples for you Dertt.

Monkeydlu: If you'd rather take Brady, take him. If not, I'll be willing to do that for you. I have excellent grammar skills.

Sorry for my absence from this thread, I've been sick/busy as of late. :-\

EDIT: Forgot to attach images :P

When i get back home and i can see the project, i'll pm you with the details (rm2k3, mind) of what i needs.  I'll appreciate anythin' you give me and i'm not fussed how long it takes you, as i said before, i'm in no rush or anythin', would just like good maps after the prelude of my game  ;)

Forgot that you were talking about RM2k3. I'll still do some mapping in that though. I'm pretty good at that. (Not as good as I am in RMXP though)

I'll pm either of you when I have it ready, I just wanted to know if I'll have editors and testers ready when I will need them. Thanks for the offer Brady.
Title: Re: Lookin' for a job
Post by: Brady on January 01, 2008, 09:38:01 PM
@monkeydlu: no problem, i'll gladly help.

@Final-Knight: i have a good few maps that could do with beautifying.  I can work up towns and such myself when i take  a break from eventing, but the caves/dungeons..i just can't keep my interest on them for long enough to make them good.  I have 2 dungeons (each with several submaps) that need re-mapping.  If you want to do it i can send you details over pm or just leave them here? (i wouldn't ask you to do the submaps unless you wanted to, but the main room is more important...)
RTP is totally fine, but if you have another appropriate tileset, that's cool.  Only hope you're not wanting to withdraw your offer by now  :P

That desert town is pretty good.
I might have you do a couple of towns. There are like, twenty towns in Peridan (the country my game starts in) alone, and I suck especially in that arena.

Thar.  That's me posted you details of a cave i need done.  Right now i'm tryin' really hard to map this town....i'm fightin' against my desperation to start eventing it.....i'm terrible... :-X
Anyhoo....yes....so....that's that.....

Does he need a reason to withdraw his generosity?  Especially when he's only withdrawing it temporarily?
