Title: Animated Backdrops in 2k3
Post by: TeaBag on December 06, 2007, 11:04:49 PM
ok, I've been figuring out ways to get around the static feel of 2k3.  One of the things I have done is found a way to create animated panoramas, which, rather than scrolling, animate through frames.  It's really quite simple:

(https://rmrk.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg479.imageshack.us%2Fimg479%2F6338%2Fprinciplemo6.th.png&hash=2c382bd99c394ade8f3c71074a8e42f797ac56d5) (http://img479.imageshack.us/my.php?image=principlemo6.png)

Using this you can have the sun glow in the sky, or if your really patient you can animate trees and stuff in the background.

I'm wondering how to apply this same principle to backdrops, so that there's background animation IN BATTLE.  I'm not having much success with common events, but then again I don't have a lot of experience with them.  Anyone wanna try to get this working for me?

I've been trying to figure this out too, but the most I can do is optical illusions with frames. This is an example I made of how that might work. Some are better than others of course- its really hard to do right, but so are regular optical illusions- but I like how it came out.
