Title: [RESOLVED] for now. interactive chests, sort of 'shop'... getting frustrated.
Post by: jamesrichards on December 05, 2007, 04:43:41 AM
Has anyone attempted and became successful at implementing a 'stash system' for treasure chests?  What I mean is and this will be for few chests, is when opened, it will open up a small 'shop' window, with items that can be taken or put back in.  I'm more concerened with taking that with storing at the moment.  Reason is I want different types of one item, but the player would be able to get a quick glimpse of what it is they're getting from the 'chest'.  I would also like to, if end up doing something like a shop, have different commands, like take, instead of buy, and store instead of sell... ...  I've tried searching I read several...many posts about chest making, and there's only one answer on 'stash system'...  Am I getting into the realm of scripting?  Any help?  ;)

hmmm... it's possible with events, but I'm thinking it will be easier to get a script for it. You'd have to design a scene if you want it to look nice, and so unless you are good with events and bored, your best betis to get a script. I think there might be one SephirothSpawn made. Check at hbgames.org

It's also possible with my Grid Inventory Script, but that is way too much if alal you want is the stashing system.

Kinda right.  At the moment I may only use this 'ability' once in the whole game, but since I can't sleep and I actually dozed for a few minutes I had an idea that i can work on related to this for another game.  For now, I guess I'll have to start scripting.  I was hoping to stick with events...  the first thing I learned.  but if I know BASIC I guess it wouldn't be too hard to learn RGSS...  besides...maybe your script may be helpful.  If I find something useful, mind if I butcher your code a bit ?  ;) credit due of course.

Well, it'sd pretty butchered as it is. I don't mind but there would be very little of use to you. Try: http://www.rmxpu.net/owai/editor.html

I am not sure, but I think the Quick Treasure Chest might be of use to you.

hmmmm...  Dont know about it.  I think I'm going to step back for a while, read up on everything I can about RGSS, tear people's scripts apart, see what makes them tick...and I'll probably end up coding it myself...

Yeah....after long thought that is what I will do...

Hehe.  Now I'm getting sleepy...  Thanks for the help, sir.
