I need some ideas for monsters you would find at the beginning of most RPGs, or in beginning training facility like areas.
Begginings:
Goblins.
Ghosts.
Worms.
Wolfs.
Puppet things.
Training Areas:
Armors.
Soldiers.
Golems(?)
1. A lizard with a small weapon attached to the tail, like a dagger or something. [The basic enemy]
2. A bird that has tattoo-like markings over the eyes and talons- just to make it unique. [The mean enemy]
3. A large, non-threatening, almost cutesy looking frog creature. (Stuff it with helpful healing items) [The gift bag enemy]
4. A rabbit with abnormally large back feet. [The strange enemy]
A bomb that explodes in 3-5 turns
Or depending on how many times it was attacked.
Though the "Bomb" enemy seems a little too early to put in..
Monsters that Escape.
Jelly things/slime things.
Living Grass Creatures.
Different Element Ghost.
My favourite training battle in terms of creativity is Klendathu's March's pillow fight between siblings.
Something weak like a MOOONSTOOOOOOOOOOOOOR(er) cat.
how about just a mannequin?
i don't know how it attacks though..
maybe it just falls on you?
For monster inspiration in general I would suggest searching Wizards.com in the Dungeons and Dragons Section. There are right now five monster manuals out, which gives you plenty of ideas to work with.
Actually, here, I'll post a direct link for you; http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/arch/ag
Now go to the scroll-down list titled "Art Gallery Archive"
then scroll down to "Monster Manual" "Monster Manual II" "Monster Manual III" "Monster Manual IV" "Monster Manual V"
