GG Is pretty good.........
But GIMP has more features, I think the only difference is that GIMP can't load avi files.
But it can do anything else...
But I guess GG is pretty good!  ;8 I only used it once though. But good tut.

ive tried gimp b4 but my favorite program is paint.net. i think its just as good as gimp but with a simpilar layout.

im not much a fan of gg either but there still good programs
Title: Re: Resource Software Thread
Post by: SirJackRex on May 31, 2007, 12:46:31 AM
paint.net is awesome. But I like gimp more.

There's more stuff you can do with it, I like the layout in paint.net too.
But if you customize the gimp layout and shortcut keys it's very simple.
GG is quite crappy for what they give you with free and pay version...But I guess it's alright.

P.net is alot more to install with less plugins. But gimp is less top install with more plugins. Well, that's what it seems to me anyway. But p.net took a very long time to install, photo shop was faster at installing. (Same with GIMP)

Post by: mitoz on May 31, 2007, 12:55:32 AM
:o i didnt even know you can do that in gimp. i might check that out later.

but my least favorite thing is minimizing and maximizing the windows cus you have to click each thing and it gets kinda annoying. i wish it was all in one window.

but otherwise i like gimp.

also you can get more plugins for paint.net from there website
Title: Re: Resource Software Thread
Post by: SirJackRex on May 31, 2007, 02:15:50 AM
Ahhh...Didn't know about the plugins for paint.net

Yeah, the multiple windows get annoying.

Anyway, I would really like to try this program. It looks good, nice find!

My mountains are detailed, but the water and sunlight is pretty crappy.  :(
Title: Re: Resource Software Thread
Post by: Leventhan on July 05, 2007, 06:23:26 AM
That, is by adjusting an option "Detail" in the Rendering Control Window.
Be Careful, though it will take a pretty big size.

By the way, TERRANIM !
It's to animate your Terragen panoramas.

i just like it because it seems like it'll be easy to use with a tablet.

That, and you can rotate a selection in a full circle. Of course, you can do this in most things, but I dont have alot of diversified experience.

Nope, I got it super detailed once, then I changed the angle, and now it looks shitty again.. :/

The details or the panorama?
Well, if the panorama, it's all about the angles, right.
Place your camera at the right place, cuz it's possible your camera is inside a mountain. :o

w00000t I made another hundred :o.

Go into the Clouds tab and set the clouds to 3D

In the terrain Genesis screen put the realism bar right up

In the render settings put the Atmosphere and Cloud bars to Max

Under the render preview button is a detail slide, put that right up

Title: Re: Resource Software Thread
Post by: iceflame1019 on July 13, 2007, 01:57:57 AM
Trees are regis only...or so my computer-savvy friend says.  Although you could go the really long hard way and render a green blob in Blender 3D and put it onto the image from Terragen...

I like the flexibility of Terragen's effects...by turning the water red and the land and sky brown or black you can make a Death Crater panorama with lava instead of water... and by recoloring the ground you can get sky-views of a lush forest from a distance or a close-up of a snowy mountaintop (currently my desktop).  It's an awesome program, and apparently there's a way to import a terrain map into Blender 3D so you can work on it from there.  Haven't done it yet though...
