Title: I am working on a Slum Tileset... RTP Rip and Edit, feed back please.
Post by: landofshadows on October 09, 2007, 10:20:43 PM
OK... I have Ripped and Edited many of the tile sets found in RPG Maker, below is a QUICK example of how I have used what In have made so far.

(https://rmrk.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi178.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw267%2Flegendofthefallen%2FExampleSlum.png&hash=db1110d304345dc05ded0ba9929b1e8419b309e2)

(https://rmrk.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi178.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw267%2Flegendofthefallen%2FExample2.png&hash=f84b14855e511ad1da7e7c287a30ff0c198e8ab1) (https://rmrk.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi178.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw267%2Flegendofthefallen%2FExample1.png&hash=bc48933eeb953cf6432038704b2d8675ddf78c68)

The Tile Set is for Download here:- http://files.filefront.com/Slumszip/;8758371;/fileinfo.html
(If the link doesn't work try MyPage at FileFront:- http://hosted.filefront.com/landofshadows

(It includeds the PSD so you can edit it as much as you like, providing you have Photoshop)

(The Autotiles are not INC with the ZIP download)

Here is the First Autotile, an animated Mote:-
(https://rmrk.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi178.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw267%2Flegendofthefallen%2FLOS-Moute.png&hash=c889cc547e3ddeaa739e6e1cfd8568e84aa4f65e)

I am working on Cobble stone Floor Autotile and Cobbles with puddles... And then it's done !!!

And here are some sprite sets that fits fairly nicely into this (I made these as Sprite requests on another Forum):-

Looks pretty decent. I like the half broken houses,,and the broken walls.

I don't like how the bright green grass for some reason takes away the effect of the city being a ghetto.

Yep... I am working on some new Auto Tiles... Cobble Stones, Cobble Stones with Puddles.... I may make the edge of the cobble stone area the Brown Dirt shade with patches of grass... So the grass will fade out a little and not be so in your face... I may make Dirt paths with puddles also... Depending... On time and that...!!!

BTW,,I really like your BallzReq edit.  Looks daaaaaam good.

LoS... This is nice and all... but there's one HUGE flaw. When you combine tilesets you MUST make sure all the shadows are the exact same color. This is VERY VERY IMPORTANT for transparency! It's the hardest part and it's a pain in the ass but you have to do it. Fix it. =/

OK... I have made version 2... Download it here:- http://files.filefront.com/Slums+V2zip/;8786523;/fileinfo.html

(Version 2 has all the Autotiles, and has the shadows matching)

Here's an Exmaple picture:-

Version 2 looks good, but the shadows of those things need to be fixed.

But they aren't translucent, they're blobular. :D

This looks awesome though! Reminds me of Resident Evil 4 for some reason.

It looks great, though I think there is still different shadows. Particularly the one underneath the tent and the one next to the top left house.

Wow LOS, this all looks awesome, preferably version 2. The only problem with the screenshots, the you didn't make the shadows translucent. It would be more appealing if you did. :P
