Title: Everything about my game operations are now perfect...but theres 1 more thing...
Post by: Ragnarok on September 09, 2007, 04:36:58 PM
I've been getting a bit muddled and at 1 point lost patience lol. I can't get round making a running button using the shift button...

Could I have 2 things?

1) An explanation
2) A script?

This is for rpg maker 2003 btw.

There are no scripts for 2k3.

sry. In all honesty, i assumed a script was something else (call me stupid, i don't mind)

I mean the event commands

I may remember seeing a guide about that stuff on a site years ago... (rpg2knet maybe, but their out of order) all I can recommend is that you Google 2k3 guides and hope for the best

I'm not going to give you a script, since it is really easy to do with events. All you need to do is make a common event and set it to parallel process. Inside the common event, place this:

Conditional Branch: Button <Shift> is being pressed (Actually, you assign Shift to a button by pressing F1 during test-play)
   Set Move Route: Player
      Change Speed: 5
Else
  Move Event: Player
      Change Speed: 4
End

You can add wait frames at the end if you feel any lag from it. There is a Double Tap Dash Button (http://rmrk.net/index.php/topic,9163.0.html) Event System in the Event Systems Database (http://rmrk.net/index.php/board,86.0.html)

If you need more help, don't hesitate to ask

Granted, I am using RMXP, but 2k3 wiwll have something similar, maybe instead of con. branches it would be Button Input Processing?
