Title: [RESOLVED] How to end an event
Post by: Dertt on August 24, 2007, 01:38:05 AM
That is, how to prevent an event that's already taken place from taking place again once the player re-enters the map.
I'll probably need the answer to be written in terms a moron could understand.

Thanks in advance.

Use a self-Switch.

All you need to do is turn the self-switch A on at the very end of the event you want run. Then make a new page, and where you see the conditions box in the Upper left corner, click Self-Switch A.

You can use any of the 4 self-switches A,B,C,D, but make sure that the one you turn on and the one in the conditions are the same. If you need more details hunt down Zeriab's signature and follow the link to an excellent tutorial. We also have a few good ones in our Tutorial Database.

at the end of the page,

TURN SELF SWITCH A ON

now at the top hit tab 2

left side check the box that says SELF SWITCH 2

(sorry for the inaccurate words...haven't used the program in a while.

Ah, I just got it. Now, I don't know if I should create a new topic or what for this new inquiry: Say I want a closed treasure chest graphic to switch to an open chest graphic once the event occurs, instead of the event graphic disappearing after the event ends. Is there a way to do that?

I would imagine the one entitled Treasure Chest, sir.

This thing?

Play SE:'Chest',80,100
Set Move Route: This Event
$>Face left
wait 6 frames
$>Face right
wait 6 frames
$>Face up
wait 6 frames
Text: 3600 Gold Acquired
Change Money: Increase By 3600+

That animates the chest, but could someone just tell me how to get an event graphic to stay on-screen after the event has ended?
