Title: [Visual] Arlen's Sketchbook
Post by: Moss. on July 05, 2007, 03:41:24 AM
These are old. Like OOOLLLDDDD old. Like 2 or 3 years old. But I don't think you've seen any of them, so I'll share them.

None of these are traced, but most of them are copied. As in I had a picture to reference, and I reproduced sketches of them.

KEEP IN MIND THESE ARE SKETCHES AND THEY ARE OLD SO SOME OF THEM ARE LIABLE TO SUCK
Oh, and I arranged them chronologically.

Reproduced Sketches

Stuff For The Game
Arlen
Main character.
This guy's been through some transformations. :\

This is the very first, very original design I did in 2004, back when I was gonna name him Kaizer, lol.
Here's an update I made later. I was going for scruffy, but not all that intimidating.
I should have another sketch of him laying around, but I can't find it.
The most updated version would have my most recent addition to his character, which is "has bandages over his hands and around his head." Clumsy bastard. :)

Serren
Secondary Male Character.
Originally named Damien. I had some really generic names back then, LOL.
This is the original concept of him from 2004. He's supposed to be the quiet, scary one.
Pluto
Secondary Female Character that for some reason gets more of my attention than any other character.
Here's an uber-sketchy sketch of her in Serren's jacket
(https://rmrk.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fryanleber.com%2Fcontent%2Fartwork%2Fpluto200401.png&hash=16d9ed372540d24a2a43223396d8720f8ae5cf48)
Here's the original concept sheet, though it's a little sparse.
The picture of her face in this one is perfect, I think, though. It really captures the personality I wanted her to have.
Here's the most recent rendition, but I'm not too crazy about it. She looks too mature, and not distant enough. :\
(https://rmrk.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fryanleber.com%2Fcontent%2Fartwork%2Fpluto200601.png&hash=022db0faf07b1de1778199926b1d68b780e5cb1c)
Merci
Tertiary Female Character.
Psychotic little girl with split personalities.
Shot on the left is her when she's a killing machine.
On the left is when she's an annoying, mischievous little girl. I apparently have a thing for too-big jackets.
Grafton
Tertiary Male Character. He uses guns!
ACTION SHOT!
Here's the concept sheet. Very sparse. Probably could have not put it up, but oh well.
Elion
aye-lee-on. Smartass demon in a business suit. Secret character. !_! Keep it on the downlow.
Here's a sketch from my day planner, LOL. I don't think I captured his character too well, though.
hey man, these are actually great, especially the referenced ones. Referencing actually takes skill (of which, of that particular sort, i have none)

your originals seem off for some reason though : /

thx you two :3

Yeah, the originals look off because I have a hell of a time with perspective. :\

well, what I'm seeing is that the legs are too short, thusly making the arms too long.
Other than that, all I don't really agree with, so to speak, is the eye style, but because that's a personal style choice, it isn't a critique.
