Title: Pandora Radio: The Music Genome Project
Post by: Moss. on June 23, 2007, 08:00:59 PM
http://pandora.com/

Wanna find new music to listen to?
Then check this amazing website out.

Start by entering a band, or song, you like.
After the song finishes, Pandora will play a song from another band which is musically similar,
based on things like tonality, instrumentation, and structure, that you also might enjoy.
If you don't like it, TELL IT, and it'll try again!

It's so good, because it has some really obscure bands on here.

AND IT'S FREE.

ENJOY BITCHES

:yesyes:

EDIT: SORRY. PANDORA IS FOR U.S. RESIDENTS ONLY.
SORRY ROPH :(

Yeah, that's my biggest problem, some times it'll play some genre completely different than what I made.

Yeah, the whole genre relating thing isn't perfect yet. Hence why it's called the "music genome project."
Obviously there's some issues like, for example, Incubus' new album sounds NOTHING like their old ones, so of course it's going to be a little off if you just type in "Incubus" and expect it to do all the work for you.

They label groups with their crazy categories, not albums or songs.

I think the categorization in general could be better, too. There's a lot of aspects of music it doesn't address at all, but maybe I'm being picky, there.

But regardless, I've been turned on to 4 or 5 new bands so far, thanks to Pandora.

If you put in a song title as the station, it doesn't  play it usually as the first song, it'll just play songs like it...
