what are your fav game, i like old School better, i think some of the new ones are just geting lazy. there becoming to easy to beat and most of them are just the same. like the Meadrive sonic games were better then the new Sonic Heros (3D sonic games just dont work) any way i do think new the game makingers are geting to lazy and just whont money more then making fun games. when i become a video game prodcer i plan to make my games as fun as the olds ones yet looks of the new ones, so hard, chalanging yet fun and long and never gets old.
one of the new games that i liked was Dark Cloud 2. it took a while to beat all the dungen levels and it was fun doing it. the story was great and after you think you won there was more to the game. and after you won you got even more extras. thats how a game should be, more like the old ones.
do you think game makers are geting lazy also
Some new school games are better but these young ppl were not there at the beautiful time of OLD SCHOOL![/u][/i]

you weren't there either so what the hell do you know?-.-
well i like "new school" better
why?
simply because anyone who say "old school" is a retard.
90% of them don't even understand what it is
well sorry to tell you, technology evolves.
the reason sonic 2nd and 3d were diffrent is simple
having it 3d means forcing it to be shorter (due to the cost of making it) and forcing it to be harder (due to the fact that you'll be able to fall)
the 2nd sonic were simply too simple, you run around a never ending stage, just when you are about to puke it says you finished it, the entire time you didn't watch for anything and basicly a baby can win.
the 3d ones are just as retarded, it's played too much as action so you can't really do what you used to do, running to the edge and you win
suddenly you can no longer play like a retard, you must play at the level of half a retard while you hear lame comments like "yeah! we are the sonic heroes!" or "we are so cool!!!!!! omg pwnage!!!!"
clearly the makers of sonic are making every effort to ruin what could have been a good game
Quotedo you think game makers are geting lazy also
nope, it's just that when you make a 2nd game, you can be a retarded kid and use rmxp or engines of sort, finish the game in 5 days cause it looks the same all the way and someone will buy it.
nowadays people expect a heavy 3d game with more levels and better gameplay
such thing can only be done in a matter of years, but developers want their money now so they rush it.
but hell, go play pacman, then play your favorite 3d game and tell me whats better...
There's more polygons in the average Unreal Tournament 2004 Level than the entire of Metal Gear Solid.
How can you say newer developers are lazy? My favourite "old school" games like Blaster Master, Galaxy 5000 and A Boy And His Blob took a matter of weeks to develop. Some of my favourite "new school" games took years to make. Some games have budgets comparable to movies.
Sonic Adventure was awesome. When I finally got sonic Adventure DX for GC I was thrilled and played it for ages. It kicked the older 2D sonic games asses. With those, you can literally finish a level just by holding right on the D-Pad for some of the levels.
Well, both are cool.
I think that older games typically have more style and heart then more recent games do. The reason for this is that the resources and manpower required to make more advanced games is far greater, taking away the mark of the indeviual, and making things more business oriented. I think older games also have an appeal because of their simplicity. It is easy for the gameplay or other important aspects to get lost in a complex title. I am glad that today we have both the simpler games on handhelds, and the more complex games on the home consols. However I somehow feel that something is missing. In general I prefer the older games. Perhaps it is because that is what I grew up playing, I can't be sure. But I wouldn't discount newer games just because they are new. I think both have their upsides and downsides.
so your saying looks are better then play.

Dude you suck.
lol don't be such a twat sonic boy
i like sonic alot but the developers are getting dumber with each game so it seems
sonic adv. for once was a really well made game, i really liked the challanges thing in it
was fun
but sonic heroes however...
well let's say the text in sonic adv which i liked sucked bad, in sonic heroes i was forced to turn off my speaker every time those little twats started with their dumb lines...
it's gameplay was alot worse too and every team was perfectly the same as any other, only that shadow's team is overpowered compared to the rest.
it says that the diffrent is the play levels, it's true the levels with shadow's team are the longest and hardest BUT seeing as they alot more powerful than the rest of the teams it's simply just as easy to win with them as it is to win with say the sonic team or amy's team
why amy's team? cause those retards are slow so it takes as long to finish the level and it's not once i simply had to kick my pc for showing such horrible sights while the game was played.
no for gongo- no, i am saying that new games often actually have better gameplay since the 3d area, if used right, can make any game alot harder mainly if it's a "jumping running shooting" game
the old megadrive games were hard yet still fun to plsy. and by lazy i ment there not even trying to make games like they ust to,. all they whont is money for the game, not enjoyment for the players.
Meh...Ill play Sonic adventure 2 ,dead or alive 2, house of the dead 2,jet grind radio, marvel vs.capcom on my dreamcast over Xbox any day :P .
But then agian Dreamcast dosen't alwyas count as old school does it?
Seeing how it came two months before Ps2 Id say 50/50,.
Sonic hero's....hmm...maybe blue xx has a point? I must say when I went to wal-mart to go play the gamecube I was slightly diaponited. I didn't hear much of the diaolge manly because those bastards at the store refused to put the volume up on the tv :P .
But Really Let's take it back to metal gear solid , mario for snes, Sonic for the gen,Earthbound for the snes, Those were the OG's.
Games today don't compare to when we were younger , and you would invite all of your freinds and huddle up with a small tv to play mario party(1)....Sigh....I miss those days.....Or when we would all go over to our freinds house cuz he had "The brand new PS1" we would spend hours just playing the demo of metal gear solid before we all ended up get the actuall game.....ah yes....the days...
i say new school started with Playstation and dreamcast
and metal gear solid 3 was a great game. they did put alot of detail into the environment and the people in it but i found that game way to easy to beat. i finnished it the day i got it
I think that old school is better because they're weren't many games out and they could do any battle system or story and it would new. It's kindave
experimental.

Hm....this went too far....

sonic adv.
Now you dissin m homie G's the sonic adventure developer?
:P Seriusly SA2 rocked the house when it came to game play.
And old-school had a little more.....finess.
Quotesonic adv. for once was a really well made game, i really liked the challanges thing in it
if you'd fully quote you'd see i agree, but ever since adv they haven't showen a worthy game
Old school and new school...once again like Blue said, most people nowadays DO NOT know what old school is because they are too young to know the difference. Old school is considered to be the original systems (i.e. Atari, Nintendo Regular, Virtual Boy (ha ha)...) if you consider "old school" to be Sega (unless you are talking about back in the 1940's when they produced coin operated machines to play games then that's Uber Old School, or back in 1989 when they first launched Genesis...but em...that's really pushing it), Playstation, Dreamcast, Nintendo 64 or Xbox then STFU and turn your computer off because you don't even deserve to look at this post.
I on the other hand, am a die hard old school gamer. I was born when the old school games, home consoles (or back when it was deemed to be new) were first made and distributed. Such as the original Mario Bros., Punch Out, the original Final Fantasy, the first Legend of Zelda, Duck Hunt...ect...I first beat Mario when I was three and Zelda when I was four.
I will always be true to the ways of old schoolness, even though times change. It is always nice to sit down, hold a primitive controller and flash back to the way things used to be.
Cheers
I remember playing the original Legend Of Zelda when I was about that age as well. I may have been about four or five actually. I played that one so much it broke. lol
I remember playing all of those games actually, although I didn't get into the original Final Fantasy until I had played 2/4 on SNES.
OMG Duck Hunt
I find that a lot of the "new school" games today don't have the same kind of replay value as the old school games did.
thats what i have been saying. you finnish a game and its boring doing it over agian becourse it the exact same were as with the old games doing it agian you whould mostly always discover new things that you dinnt first round and its still fun to play over and over.
I didn't like the version of FF on SNES, it was too cut and dry. It told you were you needed to move and I had that thing beat within a couple of days.
I love sonic games.I hate their new stuff.Sonic heroes all they did was like "Man i bet knuckles can smash this wall open!" While the sonic adventure series was REALLY fun It was like an RPG but with sonic.Anyone who has played the 4 games would know. They were old though. The sonic adventure and sonic adventure 2 were on dreamcast.and were made in the 1999-2000 Then they made a sonic adventure 2 battle for Gamecube which is a remake of Sonic adventure 2 and sonic adventure DX came out.. In 2004..(DX-Directors Cut) Ive beat the game 80 times and still love the game.
Sonic heroes i returned it immeadiantly.
If only sonic team would go back to that series.. It was pretty much their first Full 3d Series and YET it was still old school.Because Old School does not mean Like 2d sprite games. Im saying old school cause it was made with old school material.
Old school meaning older than six years ago. We're talking about NES/SNES/Sega vs. PS2/GC/XBOX etc.
But you're right, Sonic Adventures was pretty sweet.
i am gonna have to go with old school bcz: all the good old rpgs like: Final Fantasy, Dragon Warrior, Suikoden(ultra-rare to find-lol), Star Ocean, Saga Fronteir, Breath of Fire, Lunar(ultra-rare to find-lol), Arc the lLad(really hard to find-lol),ummmmm, Battle Ogre, and alot more.....you can't find those good of games with their series beginning on the new consoles today...
Halo Of The Sun.. Im sorry but what i mean was like. The first sonic adventures was on the Dream Cast And its hard to find those things anymore. To me it is kinda oldschool Because i don't think oldschool is like supposed to be 2D.Old School to me is FUN GAMES. New school to me,Is murder games and stealing and robbing and umm Evading cops?
Yeah...Thats what i meant
Holy crap you must be young. By definition old school is what I said and a couple of members say. It isn't about what's fun. The original mario brothers (not the one with duck hunt or him jumping over everything and killing king koopa at the end) BUT the original mario brothers where you are just stuck on one screen and you have to jump up and retrieve something from the top before those enemies kill you....*gasp* that's OLD SCHOOL. It's not fun (to me), but it's old school.
No i get what oldschool is.
What im talking about was the beggining of the end of old school.
The dreamcast was an old school system. It wasn't made about like 40 years ago but it was old school it was the beggining of the "New technologies" Then people took advantage of it and made New School Where
graphics are crystal clear And movies last for more than 50 minutes.
Oh and i did some research on SA. And HOTS sonic adventure was made 7 years ago. That is more then 6 years ago. This was the end of oldschool
The Dreamcast failed miserably which sent Sega underground...it blew them out of the race once Sony came out with PS and Nintendo with N64. Dreamcast was a disgrace to all consoles. It doesn't deserve to inherit the title of old school, and given time frame that it was built in...no it still isn't old school. Old gamers know what old school is, newer and younger audiences have no real definition of the meaning.
Well sorry I grew up playing Intellivison which is a huge old school console.
Don't even try and tell me I don't know oldschool. And have you noticed. All oldschool consoles failed?
Quote from: ViperThe Dreamcast failed miserably which sent Sega underground.
True, but in Japan its still selling.
Ok are you retarded? Are you saying that the original Nintendo failed? That was virtually the birthstone for all of today's gaming consoles. And you are saying SNES failed...*cough*bullshit*cough* there are so many classics on that system it isn't even funny.
Old school consoles never failed. The only one that I can think of is Virtual Boy because it gave people seizures and other physical problems.
Zx: that's Japan...everything sells over there.
Well I obviously dont mean the Classic OS games.I mean those are the gods of old school. Im saying the ones That tried competeing with each other (They all did.Except the classic OS consoles. They could never compete with each other) Had failed. That was how new school came out. They all started competing intul they got to the max.
Give me some examples of previous old school consoles that failed, and then I might agree with you.
32x,Saturn,Play Box (This failed so badly When the commercials came out they were embarresed and stopped making them), Sega CD,Fantacon(I think thats the name),Super Fantacon(I think thats the name) And more i can't name off the top of my head. But it is true.
Sorry, wasnt motivated to read up to the second word of that Mental, so I'll just disagree with you ;D

Saturn=No Fail, Saturn rules.
Fantacon=Nintendo, thats what they fucking call a NES in Japan
Super Fantacon=...Do I have to say anything?
YES YOU DO
