Title: [RESOLVED] Questions about making a demo
Post by: Sigma on June 07, 2007, 11:10:48 PM
1) What folder do I upload?

2) How do I end the demo so the player can't play any further?

1) The folder with every thing in your game.
2) i dunno, add like some text that says end of demo and prompts the save menu.

Can I have you test it to see if the demo works?

All right, I think I know what the problem is. I need to save the maps from the RTP to the Resources folder.
I had saved all the chipsets into the RTP folder.

It'll take a little longer now.  :-\

Just upload the chipsets, not the whole game.

Also notice no characters learn any skills.

100 MB... Did you add any custom music?

They're not supposed to. You buy skills at the skill shop.

And yeah, I added custom music. There's probably a way to shorten the amount of memory it takes.
I am just oblivious to what that is.

Well, certain music extension files (done by conversion tools) shortens the memory (if not in the format already). Don't ask me what the extension is, let alone where to get the tool.

Well, it seems that that's for a whole 'nother topic. heh

I moved everything from the RTP file to a different folder.
I'll have to reupload the whole thing though.

If I had a means to condense the mp3 files I could make it a faster download/upload.

And use midis instead.><

MIDI takes very little space, if the music is from a game, go check out some websites line http://www.vgmusic.com....thats why i dont use MP3  for my game.

I'm pretty sure there's a way to condense the file sizes of mp3s: I just haven't discovered it yet.

Regardless, Qig, try this out:

I played through it without the RTP and fixed the missing graphics, but I have no idea what you're talking about with some graphics having green around them.

If you want it so that the player can't play any further, make a event when the player can't play further and add the option ''game over''. It's on the third event page.

No, that's not good! Do a show picture of "The Demo Stops Here" or something but doing a game over will make them think, "WTF? I GOT GAME OVERED AT THIS CRUCIAL SPOT? ZOMGWTFBBQ??" Also, I think that was already solved. :P
