Title: Quest Log Tutorial
Post by: NarGarith on June 05, 2007, 06:31:08 AM
Ok pretty much in my game I have 'mini' mission which the hero can choose to do or not do but I also have major quests that MUST be completed. I would like to have a quest log for these major quests but have absolutly no idea how to create one. Any advice / guides / or links to guides on how to create quest logs in RPG Maker 2003 would be a big help,
Thanks

The best way to do it is with a script.

I recommend this one:  http://rmrk.net/index.php/topic,11119.0.html

The newest version of the script is near the bottom of the third page.

it's rm2k3,not rmxp.

for your quest log, i suggest to do a common event,by input key prosessing.
clicking on a specific key will re-direct you to a map that you will create.
once there, you will input all your quests ans stuff. use variables to determines which quest is done/not done or available/unavailable.
use a custom charset for your map.
i know my explanations aren't clear i'm not that good for in-deep explanations
but the main idea and the basics are here

You could use pictures, and if you're using a CMS, that could fit right in with variables, switches and all that sort of smutchz. It's the funnest part of rm2k3, and the satisfaction you get from making a working system like that is great.

Well hope the dude above has helped you.
