Firstly, aren't you a christian (pardon if i am incorrect)? Does not god supposedly forgive those who repent for their sins and return to the light or whatever? Aren't you going against your own religion?
Secondly, no one is BORN with a religion. You may be born to parents who both belive in a certain religion, and they may introduce you to their religion. But you are not religious from the moment you are born.
People should have a right to decide what they want to belive in. To say otherwise I think would be a much greater sin. Denying people the right to choose what they wish to belive would be immoral and near insane.
People have been changing religions since the dawn of time. It's the way they believe is right and thats why they change. You can't hunt down people for that or say bad things about them.
Also the person would much rather go in the other religion (even though you may consider it evil), but they'd rather spend their time believing in that, and that's how they see fit. :O_o:

Gotta say I agree with these people on this one, dude. You aren't "born" with a religion. What I assume you meant by that is that you should be whatever religion your parents are. But if you don't believe in that religion, you can't force yourself to. Nobody can. Also, you can't really change your religion. A religion is a set of beliefs. If you run across another religion and decide to convert, you didn't really believe in the first one anyway.
I know we aren't born with a relegion, i mean you get it from your parents who get if from theirs and blabla.

I think its okay for people to change
religions, however, I find it quite strange that people
who is absolutely sure that there's just one god, and goes around holding
speeches about that god, suddenly changes in to belivieng that hindu stuff
for example, with many different gods.
I also find it quite strange that some people say that their religion
is the only correct one.
For example, here in sweden we were Pagans a long time ago( you know that stuff with thor and odin etc.)
But then a person from another country came and said:
"There's only one god, not differnet ones like you think!"
And suddenly we swedish became christians.
What says that this other country guy is right?

You're a chtistian, right? Well, that doesn't matter. If you're not a christian, replace that word with whatever religion you are.
Let's say (hypothetically, not insultingly) that your parents were satanic. Not that they are. But for the purpose of this excersise. Now, you, being a christian, obviously are appalled by this idea. Can you imagine that if your parents were satanic that you would be, too?

See. The religion your parents are doesn't necessarilly have any bearing on your own. The reason people generally take on their parents' religion is that they are forced into it. Parents drag their kids to churches, cinagogs, and whatever else.
In my opinion that is what's wrong with religion. If it were up to me, when you got old enough to make your own descisions (an arguable age, but probably around 13), your parents would give you information on all the various religions and let you choose for yourself.
On the topic, I, despite having been raised by christian parents, am an athiest. Do you think I'm evil?

I was brought up religious, though I dropped it as I grew up. It just all looked like a bunch of rubbish to me.

Directly related to the first post. Religion we are born with? Which century are you living in? In most cases babies are baptized according to their parent's wishes. You are not born with a religion, it is chosen for you which is complete bullshit.
I feel that anyone who wants to change their religion on the basis of feeling it to be outright immoral, should. If you are happy with it, then why change it? My entire family, excluding my mother's side is traditionally Roman Catholic, as most of the people in Ireland...however I've chosen to go my seperate way and follow the traditional Celtic religions that has been around before Christianity or Catholicism. Is my family happy with my decision? Hell no. But you know what, fuck them...they do not control my life since I've been an adult for years and I am my own person.

Not that it matters, really, but I'll just point out the story of Adam and Eve is nothing more than that; a story. Even the Catholic church will tell you it's only meant as a parable, so there is no "supposedly" about it. It just "isn't".

The human brain is finite...we do not even use anywhere over 20% (actually I think it's less than that :( ) of it at a given time...there will be no way we would ever know how everything came into existance. Therefore we have theories and people like to argue about those theories.
People can argue about what is right and what is wrong but they are just voicing their opinions. Some of you were brought up as a certain religion and intend to stay that way. Others have broken apart from your family traditions and developed views all on your own (woot!) Good for you, this means you are human.
Do I believe in God? No, because I believe the religions were created on the basis for everyone to believe in something and it gives somewhat a meaningful purpose in their lives. It gives them a sense of morality on what to do and what not to do...and if you want to think of it this way, a certain set rules to govern your lives with *shudders*. It also gives them a belief of where they go when the die.

the energy thing is what made some truely wise people believe in god, but the energy could otherwise come from outside of the universe (that's a good theory), no one said the universe in unlimited, it just seems like it, our universe is say... america... and we are germs, and the germs of america think that just cause they can't go anywhere and just cause they can't even move much in america it means america is alone.
anyways so seeing as the energy comes from the outtern side of our universe there has to be a superior being but it will follow some rules:

d. he can't talk to us, we won't understand, he won't talk to us, he doesn't talk to us, he didn't talk to us, we can't talk back

Okay the topic originally was on people changing their religions?
I can think of good exapmles of people changing their religions, for example abandoning un natural faiths *Cough* christanity, buhddism and islam *cough* and become re aquinted with their ancestrial roots and embrace their heritage's old pagan beleifs. To me that shows you love your heritage. And rejecting a false beleif that was forced on your ancestors, is keeping in touch with your roots. Because lets face it those religions i mentioned in that little cough are really just cult succes stories. And we all know cults brainwash people to join, which is forcing them. So what I'm saying reject what is impure and un natural, get in touch with your pagan roots and show the world you love your heritage.
I do realise that I most likely sounded like an elitist *ss h*le. But I'll admit it, which may make me slightly less of an *ss h*le.
