Title: Equiping
Post by: Mohanddo on April 29, 2007, 11:13:15 AM
What im trying to do is, make it so that, when a character equips a certain item, it shows up on the character. For example, we have a character and he is naked (>_> hes got a short on OK XD) and we go inside the invetory, and equip a dagger. When we go back to the game. The dagger is in the characters hand.

What im thinking is that you have to make seperate character sets for all of these equipment but i know that takes ages. So is there another way ?

No not really. And youll need a battlers for every single possible combination of equipment to do it anyway. Just put it in a common event. Make it parralel and youll be fine, its just you need to do the second sentence first.

??? ok ... total noob here. Can you explain that in a more newbish way. Oh and your saying that i should make a new character set for every single item/clothes eqiuped ? And then use an event that will swith the character sprite with the item is equipped ?

Techically yes you need to make a new character set for eah weapon if you so desire. That might also mean making different battlers to go with each new weapon/armor.

If you're willing to go through all that, then I'll show you how to make it change each time. You'll need to read up on switches and variables (or just play with rpg maker for awhile) to get the hang of things.

Or you could use a Visual Equipment script, check hbgames.org, I believe MeTM made one.
