This is a mapping tutorial for the RTP Forest tileset. This tutorial is pretty basic, so bare with me.
*Note* Remember, the first rule of mapping outside: Nature is random.
Here we go:
Start out making a new map, mine is 25x40.
Step One:
On the first layer add some grass.

Step Two:
Still on the first layer, lets add some dirt.

Step Three:
Let's add some trees. Do this using the second and third layers. Remember the third layer will overlap the second.

Step Four:
Now, we need to add some plants and rocks around to make it look more like a forest.

Step Five:
Next we'll add some animals.

Step Six:
Add some fog and some weather effects, if you wish.
Here's what it will look like in game.

If you're unsure of how to add the rain effect, read this.

Step One:
Make a new event in a random area on the map.
Step Two:
Find the Set Weather Effect button.
