Ok, so i have been using RPG maker Pos knights. I was reading around on the net, and found it was an illegal version of RPG maker XP. Ok, everone knows that i think, but, what are the repercissions for using this RPG maker if it is illegal. Should I stop using it, 60$ is alot for me to make/spend, so this free version is awesome, but if its illegal, should i stop using it.
Please talk me out of my guilty consience. :D
I wouldn't worry overly much about it. If there isn't any way that you would spend $60.00, or if you can't spend $60.00 to buy the program, then the only person losing out is you, since Enterbrain wouldn't get the money anyways. All that would happen is you would stop using the program. If you have the money and are willing to spend it then great, do so. But if you don't have the money, then don't worry about it. They wouldn't be getting any money whether you were using PK or not using the program at all. Now, that being said, the legal version is slightly better than PK, but not so much that it makes a big difference. If, however, the only thing stopping you from buying the program is that there is a free version, that's a little questionable, but don't worry about it. If you don't have the money to spend, then you don't have it, and Enterbrain wouldn't be getting it whether PK had been released or not.
Well, If i had the money, I would buy the real version, but im 14 and 60$ is a bit hard for me to come by. :lol: I just guesse, the word "illegal" made me a bit guilty for using the program. I like RMXP cause I can learn scripting with it, But just as long as enterbrain does not have a problem with it, Ill use it.
Yes, in a way RPG Maker is an illegal version of Enterbrain's RPG Maler. But there isnt anything wrong with using it. Yes Enterbrain doesnt get the $60 but they also have their intellectual copy rights meaning since they made the program they can choose what to do with it. If you have the illegal version and you tried to sell a game for money or anything of value then there is a problem. You never bought the rights to distripute a game that you created.
So if you feel bad, only feel bad if you are selling a game.
And that's the only time they really will get mad. Also, where does the money go if it doesn't go to Enterbrain?
Im sure they have another company that owns them or other small companies that are linked to them. And if not... then there is an account with tons of money being deposited into it with no ones name on it.
I'm going to try to find that account. Anyways, if MA's and Chaos's ways don't work, don't feel guilty. Just don't think about it and you'll be fine.
