Hello
Does anybody have any imformation, tips, or hints on how to make my own custom chipsets? what templates/programs would i need to have to make my own? I have often conteomplated making my own chipsets, but really dont know how to make them. Any help is appriciated!
Thanks alot.
Yes there is a template for it.
How to make: basically start creating something in a Paintish type program or try ripping them from games.
I will look for a link that could help you.
I think the only rule is that each tile is 24x24 pixels. Or was it 48x48.... I'm guessing 24x24 because that's the size of icons.
best thing. open rpg maker and export a tilest, then look at it and you can get the idea. also paint / photoshop will work.
wow, talk about speedy answers. This is awesome guys.
I am completly clueless about this, so nothing is to elementary for me.
Thanks for the help so far!
Keep it coming.
I bassically need to create WWII tile sets. Bomb craters, burnt buildings, stuff like that. Now i have seen on a few sites, somthing called a tile set tmeplate. it looks like a checker board. is this somthing i could use?
Uhh... Like I said. The checkers... Just take one checker. You just need a checker for each tile. There's no other rules so I guess you could use it? :P

32 x 32, and it sounds like the template is just divided into 32x32 squares, so basically each checker would represent a single tile on the map. It takes practice to make a good tileset from scratch, but I wish you the best of luck.
It takes a lot of patience/practice. I think it's a good thing if you can make your own tilesets. You have the ability to make a one of a kind game. :D
Yeah, I tried, made some pretty cool things, but then I got mad and stopped because it was tacking too long. :bean: I regret it. And it's on my other non working pc, well, it's just not hooked up.
Making your own makes the game unique, and I think that more people should, so I salute you!
well thanks guys for all the feedback.
Yes, i have been using RM2k3 for a while, and I am getting a bit bored with doing the same old thing, and using same old tilesets over and over. Plus, there are not that many WWII chipsets out there. So i guesse when this game is finished, it will be a one of a kind peice of work. I will work on some chipsets, and keep you all up to date on my progrese, if that all ok with you.
Thanks again.
I could help you a little I guess....
But I wont be fast because I'm lazy and have much stuff on my hands right now.
