hi, i was wondering is anyone making or has made a multyplayer script (i want to make my game mutlyplayer). Sorry if something like this has been posted i couldent be bothered checking (lazy me).
thanx luke
I know theres online play, but I don't think RGSS can handle a multiplayer and it's limited enough to what it can do online.
I can give you online play if you add me to AIM / MSN / Yahoo
thank you for your help, and i have added you.
thanks again :D  :D
Too many people have been asking for this. It isn't a script, but thats okay, because now only the people who really, really care about their games will us eit instead of being lazy. No credit to me.

Okay, this was posted in the scripts section right? This will generally mean the person is using XP So talking about a 2k/2k3 tutorial to make it multiplayer won't help much.
While it is true they are similar 2k3 was a 2k update, XP was built from scratch with some different systems, like RGSS. But I guess you can use your way but that would kind of make it confusing and difficult because you'd need to make certain things do certain things to the maximum extent which will take time.

nvm,
...
that's the dumbest tutorial i have ever seen
this will NOT let you have any sort of acceptably usable crappy mulitplayer.
it will just pitifuly let you move 4 char graphics on the screen while ONLY ONE IS THE TRUE HERO
what does that mean? it means only 1 person function as the hero, only he can use the menu, only he can talk to npcs, only he can encounter enemies, only he can do anything.
in order to allow the rest to do those too you will need to check positions WITH EVERY EVENT compared to EVERY CHAR
that will take ages.
the noob who made this tutorial also included "face right, face up" so on, what the noob doesn't realize is that the events DO IT ANYWAYS unless they got lock facing.
bottom line:
this is of no use.
the screen center is only on player 1.
it's "multiplayer" for only 1 pc
only player 1 functions as a hero
upon player 1's teleport EVERYONE teleports
you also need to make those "player" events in EVERY GOD DAMN MAP
questions?
bug the moron who made this pitiful excuse for a tutorial, he obviously doesn't know how to work with rm
and whats more mr dragonmanga, by multiplayer people usually mean ONLINE PLAYING
thanx, ill get my friend to help me with that code
(i have no understanding of it)
thank you for your help!
nty luke, i aint helping, and blue, if u know a event that would help my freind, then FOR GODS SAKE, POST IT!!!!!!!!
multiplayer cannot be done in events for the pure fact that the camara follows the first hero and no other sprite.
you have to use scripts, but there is no such script around.
and multiplayer should be online or otherwise it's of no use.
and lastly

lol, when you are done putting the 5 minutes of work this horrible show of ignorance has to offer you will see what i mean by well.. everything i wrote
it's a simple move event thing.. nothing more.. maybe a bit less -.-
My suggestions is get online play, get the ABS (Action Battle System) by Squall or get the legal version of RPG Maker XP and use Detined's MNetplay which might have the ABS, but it will include a Login system and version checker that you can't get past
Anyway good luck
This is all so darn complicated...
I wish somebody could just come up with a multiplayer online script that
actually has
A. More then 5 players can play at the same time
and
B. Variables and switches are GLOAL for all players.
But it doesn't seem to be happening.
Quotenvm, im spamming, do i care, not really
2 things for all of you.
Blue is right, It is impossible to do this with events. And a script would be incredibly hard to make.
Jesse, WHAT IS IT WITH YOU? Why must you always spam? I'm no mod but if you wanna get banned, keep on spammin! It will only be one less noob to worry about on the forum.
This is why Crank has made a spam forum, you wanna spam? SPAM IN THERE, where no one will care what you say or do (Unless it is offensive to another member)[/quote]

But that's not what matters seeing as a script is already made.
Now Gyromon's dilemna is true... this script really is truly meant for an MMO and not a multiplayer one.
But also in argument with Gyromon's saying, it can go up to more than 5 people, it just depends on how you set up the server which last time I checked you couldn't change from 10 because it's still in beta mode (lame, I know)
Someday there will be a more advanced MMO script and a plain Multiplayer script. Maybe when they release the next RPG Maker which will (with slight doubt) have a new scripting language or optional with what you want to use. Also Ruby is less limited than RPG Maker XP's RGSS so someoen needs to find a way to incorporate it into RPG Maker XP, true scripts need 5 times as many details and Iguess you'll have to script up all the characters, but it would bem ore fun
wait, does that script mean 4 ppl play on the same computer, or online?
Actually, with what I posted, you could use KEY INPUT PROCESSING,a feature that can make a pretty good multiplayer with 2k3 if you wanted a multiplayer game that isn't an rpg and you play mini games and stuff.
So it works better than you barely tried to think about it, BlueXx.
But, see, this is RMXP and key input processing was left out, making it very inferior to 2k3.
So anyways, I'm no scripter and can't really help out.
key input exist in rm, no need for it cause rm can check positions, facing, button pushing
with all combined, with a hella good eventer with too much time , you will still lack the basic thing-
3 players live on a small screen, even if we made it so that the screen will follow the rest of the players too, and we could, the screen will always look on 1 player of choice, and the others will walk blindly until the nice screen will remember going back to them.
so the best you could do is a map so small it won't allow any player to leave the screen range
yes some mini games can be made like that, but they will be a bit too limited
(or othereise turn based... yay rm monopoly Oo)
I was just thinking about this, and it may actually be easily possible with making it split the screen for the seperate players, make them have their own menus and stuff and set on the ABS or if each player has his/her own party then use the normal battle system.
and err how are you planning on splitting the screen without scripts? Oo
(am i missing a button here again? i could i not notice a split screen button?!)
and if you are going to say you'll find a script then just forget it and use the normal multiplayer scripts Oo
