...to make his game original?
I mean, seriously, the amount of custom sprites for RMXP at this moment is zero. Maybe some recolors or sprites made by that generator, but that's it. Now if you compare this to previous versions, it's really a huge difference.
So what does a Rmk fan do? He moves on to Rm2k3. But shit. Then we got another problem: The battle characters. Even if ye find some nice charsets and facesets and chipsets, yer still stuck with the battle characters, cos all good oldskool spriters never thought an Rm2k3 would be released thus never made any battlecharacters to match with their nice charsets.
I'm sorta depressive. I wanna make a project and I have the perfect music, but I can't seem to find any nice custom graphics. I'd almost use the RTP but RMXP's looks way to bitchy, and Rm2k/3's has the right style but is over-over-used, and to make it worse it only has four friggin chipsets.
There's one awesome set of resources on the web, Roco's. Awesome facesets and charsets to match them, but God knows where they are. They gotta be somewhere, but when you use Google to search for things like this it's a real bitch. Not even the big Rmk boards have the Roco sets.
If there's anyone with ideas for this poor guy, now would be the time to tell them.
I think we should get a team to re-make a new RTP but of course that would take FOREVER =D
There are original sprites out there, you just have to look pretty hard. I'd share some of mine, but...well, I want my game to be original...
well, okay, you can have one.

Of course, I'm not using him, because I don't like him, but still... at least he's not a default. ;)
that is actaully a really nice sprite. :)
I think the head's too small for the body.
At least tell me how you got yours. Did ye make them, or found them, or what?!
Please explain what's going on to me immediately.
Well, that particular one I "frankensteined" together. The body is from one sprite, and the head is from another. However, there are lots of custom sprites out there. Try googling "RMXP resources."
The problem is, you'll never find a Characterset that perfectly matches with a battler and a portrait if it has one. The portraits aren't that big of a problem cos they can be made from the battlers, but still it's less original.
Well, I draw my own battlers. Plus I've been really lucky with finding sprites :D.
Remember, if you can find something close, recoloring and minor edits are a snap compared to creating the sprite yourself.
Uh, was there anything in particular you needed?

I <3 that sprite :-*
Do you have a battler for it :D ?
And to get to the first post.
I agree I never find the resources i WANT i now a days click and save :/
I can draw you one, if you want. It'll be in black and white though, I don't have the time to Photoshop battlers I'm not going to use.
Well, I can go around with Photoshop, but I can't draw for shit in it, so I guess that answers that.
And do I need something? Nothing in particular, but if I could just get Roco's face and charsets, I could combine em with the Mac and Blue chipsets to make a decent Rm2k/3 game...
And I agree RMXP has some nice sprites... But the RMXP style just doesn't feel right while Rm2k/3 gives you that nice oldskool RPG feeling.

Nice sprite...using it in my game will credit you...
@Edwin: There are many custom sprite sets, but I agree there isn't that many matching Battlers (that is why I use the battle system with no battler.)
RPG Maker 2000 is rather good. You can use all the Character Sets you wish to use and you don't have to worry about Battlers or Battle Character Sets. Also, it retains the classic front-view battle system in which can be really spiced up if used with some flashy animations. 2000 is still good, even now IMO. I plan on doing a project on it some day.
Still..if you look hard enough Original characters can be found for RMXp.
The bummer thing with Rm2k is it doesn't support MP3's. The real good music I got are the MP3's, but I'm thinking of making a comedy game first, then maybe I can do a serious based game later in RM2k3 or RMXP.

I always draw my own battlers.
Yukimora is a good spriter (he's helping me with my game)
see if you can hunt himdown.
