Title: Etiquette for game hosting...?
Post by: Erk64 on April 08, 2007, 06:37:59 AM
Is there such a thing as "etiquette" when it comes to having your game hosted? Are there any do's and don'ts? What I really want to know is if you think it is inappropriate to have you game hosted on more than one website.

I think you should just uplaod to a single site. If your game is smaller tehn 8mb then upload the the forum.

Well, so far the demo is smaller than 8mb, but it's not finished yet. Not even close. I would upload it to the forums, but the game is already being hosted elseware. I wasn't sure if it was okay to post it in more than one place. I want to help spread the word about it, but at the same time I didn't want to get anyone upset because the game was no longer exclusively on their site. That's why I asked about this whole "etiquette" thing.

no no, it's alright to go to other sites and show off your game. I think Nouman was referring to the actual uploading hosts, like sendspace. You can go to other forums with your game.

I think the most basic etiquette is about credits and copyrights. If your game contains resources made by somebody who doesn't want their resources to get commercial, but you SELL your game, that's NO-NO!
