How you people are so damn good at mapping? I can't believe some of the maps on here aren't coming from a real game or something. Like Blizzard, Nouman, and Gilga, not that I ever expect to be as good as any of you, but how in the world did you learn to do it so well?
Basically, as anyone would most likely told you, they practiced, learned from mistakes and looked at reference maps and all of that. They then tried new things, etc. If you try to get better it is most likely gonna happen over time. However, if you feel like you can't do shit all and your never gonna do anything..then chances are your not.
All comes with practice.
I still can't believe what some of my old maps looked like.
>.<
I started out with a lot of "Oldskool RPG knowledge". I was 19 when I started working in RM and I have played a lot of RPGs on SNES, so I basically recalled. Later I became better due to practice (no wonder, I made a lot of maps in my game). I am still improving slowly.
Most, if not all of the mapping tut's you see made by me were all made during my first time using the tileset xD. Sounds weird yes I made tuts w/o knowning how to myself but this seemed to work out nicely.
