Title: Job Changing System [Self-Resolved]
Post by: tSwitch on February 20, 2007, 02:43:47 PM
I've been searching and can't find one :tpg:

just looking for a good way to allow the characters to change jobs
(I know I could do it with events but it wouldn't be as clean)

does anyone have/know of a Job Script they could inform me of?

You see, i didnt play ff3, so i'm not getting you.

But if you mean like, Become a woodcutter from a fisherman, it can be done with events, and if there are many people connected with jobs etc, it;ll just a take a few more/longer events.

ok here's the basics

through the menu, you can change what class your character is
warrior, mage, etc...
and level up those classes as well as a base level that determines
their strength, etc....
the class level determines their abilities.

they can get more classes later on.

that's about it.

There's a demo with SepherothSpawn's class changer script on PhanX Games, but it's a little glitchy.

Edit: Here's the link to it: http://www.phanxgames.com/pxg/projects/view.asp?id=692 (http://www.phanxgames.com/pxg/projects/view.asp?id=692)
The party switcher included in it is my personal favorite.

Edit2: If you choose to use this one, make sure you put [RESOLVED] in the subject for this post.

yeah I might try it.
but I'm not a big fan of SephirothSpawn's scripts...
ever since his limit break script
which I almost fixed...
except for the bug that won't let you select what technique to use...

If you do use it, you'll need to ask someone here to fix the level bug. Other than that, it's extreamly good.

that's not a bug it's a cheat code designed for testing ;)

actually I love the party switcher, but I get a huge bug, I uploaded a .ZIP
with the necessary files to show you the glitch I'm getting.
it's kinda hard to explain.
I have more than 4 people in reserves, then when I start scrolling past the
fourth, the words go up, no more words are written, and the sprites scroll
in the wrong direction.
I can't figure out how to fix it  :tpg:
(I did edit it so that you couldn't switch out the main character, and so that
you can choose whether or not the actors go straight to reserves or not with
switch #001, but that's about it)
If someone can fix the bug and upload the scripts.rxdata that I uploaded, with the
fixed version (without getting rid of my modifications ;D) it would be greatly appreciated.
