Title: Size problems. Gilga, how do you deal with it..?
Post by: Deliciously_Saucy on February 15, 2007, 08:05:17 AM
I'm close to finishing my demo, but the problem is that it's huge, for a demo any way. So far it's about 850mb, it will be at least 900+ when the demo is released. Is there any really good compressors out there...?

The main size is from an in-game movie I made using windows movie maker, and because I'm using 2K3 the only format I can make the final cut in is DV-AVI which makes the file huge. Is there a solution to this..?

With out the movie the demo's still about 200mb...

Thanks.

How big's a normal sized game? Is there anyway I can split the movie into separate downloading parts?

A normal game is 50 mb(blizzards)
usually 20mb.

Yami's will be about 200 she says.

See what you can do is remove the movie...

and put it in another zipz.

Ahhh, already tried that... It brings the movie by itself down to 520mb, but that's still damn big.

Would converting the DV-AVI into a mpg reduce the size enough to it being worth the quality loss?? Can it be done..?

Maybe, but then the quality may become so bad that urm, it would be urm....not understandable type.

WinRar...you could compress the game inside RPG Maker, then right click the compressed file and add it to a Archive.
