ok, i used the search button, and i didnt get this, so... if it has been made, my bad.
I learned this by myself when i didnt have internet.
Make a new item called skill. Occasion= never. Consumable=no. |only change that.|
Make a Common event.
Name it learn skill
make a conditional Branch, and go to the fourth section. In item, put the new item you made,"Skill". press ok.
in the first empty part of the conditional branch, input Change skills and then the skill of choice.
I will put screenshots later if needed.
common event
conditional branch: (no else)
- Item ___ in inventory
- change skills
>_> thats what i said.
and it didnt work? post your screenshot..
Actually I think he was posting his own tutorial. Perhaps a bit more descriptions would be helpful. It was well done, and nice thought.

How would you make it so that you can only use the item once and have the character with the skill still available for use?

consumable = yes
But then the skill doesn't appear on the skill list.
i don't see why not, but you can just need to make some minor changes to the common event. Take the change skills part out of the conditional branch and turn off paralell process. Now, in the item screen, just make the item call that common event.
