Title: SNES Emulator
Post by: Spartan on February 06, 2007, 05:04:03 AM
Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows of any good SNES emulators? I was looking for a rare game called Metal Marines for the SNES, but I was hoping there was an emulator for it.

ZSNES is hands down the best emulator I've found... sooo hard to find roms for it though.

You don't know where to look then, I have most mario games, metroid, zelda, and most other big name nintendo games. I can find anygame I want for it, but I also have a super nintendo, I like playing the snes it self more than the roms.

The hentai ads are a bonus .  I love this, I got lufia 2, super mario world and a hulk game I had for sega gensis.  what fun.

I hate voting, it's pointless and I never get it right, and I never get to download the rom!  >:(

I got all of my roms from a place called Kult of Kefka, but I lost the sites address...

Snes9x was better then Zsnes in my opinion.

snes9x has nicer look IMO but it's less compatible with some games and has more glitches than zsnes.

ZSNES was always my favorite...

SNES emulators and which one was the best. That's what it appears to be to me. I'm guessing you know what an emulator and a ROM are, correct?

No
Title: Re: SNES Emulator
Post by: sepiroth666 on March 28, 2007, 03:57:30 AM
Emulators emulate a console(like snes, NES,PS1 ect.)
Roms are images of those games you can put them on a cd or flash cart and play them on the real console(but they need some modding) or you can play these images with the emulator on your computer

EMU Russia is the best console ROM site.

http://emu-russia.km.ru/default.php?a=roms&l=en (http://emu-russia.km.ru/default.php?a=roms&l=en)

No spam, no spyware, direct downloads... its perfect.

Also, SNES9x is better than Zsnes.

Meh..I would much rather stick with ZSNES since I've used it for much longer. Nerologic.com is a great place for Emulators, NES and SNES ROMS as well. Tons of them, actually.

Wow, sounds complicated. Anyone know where I can just download/buy classic games?
Title: Re: SNES Emulator
Post by: Holkeye on March 29, 2007, 01:31:52 AM
1. Get even a passing knowledge of basic computers.

2. Get an internet connection (done!)

3. Download Roms and an emulator.

If all else fails, you could get a 2 year old to do it for you.

Post by: Lavata on March 29, 2007, 01:33:44 AM
It's very, very...very easy actually. Once you do it once then you can do it in a snap.

Yeah, it does so much.
I found a nice DS emulator. google ds emulator and it should bring you to a website that rates like four of them, and it's DeSmuME. It's pretty cool. Although the game I wanted to play it with wouldn't work too well. It came to the menu after like five minutes and I had to find my way on a black screen, and when I got it started, only the top screen, the bottom screen menu and you're health/mp would work... So I got kirby, that's fully playable with some glitches. But...I'm waiting for a newer version so I can play Dawn of Sorrow. I beat Aria of Sorrow with the good ending. It was soooo easy!

I know of DS emulators, but none that run any commercial ROM up to speed. Perhaps this is a new occurrence.

DeSeuME v4 works atleast 20 commercial games.

I'll have to check it out. Is it up to speed? Also, is it mouse-stylus style?

Yeah, mouse is the stylus. But Kirby has some glitches, check out the site, they have a list of working roms.

Awesome. You can get every DS rom at gba-rom-news.org (http://gba-rom-news.org), too. Just click the NDS link at the top, then downloads. There are no popups that I know of, and all the roms are there.

wow, I had to use g-masters, which has a ton of pop-ups and doesn't have every rom, thanks for the refer.

He's right; you can find just about any rom if you know where to look for it. Not really gonna say where...just saying it's possible.

Also, Zsnes (as probably said before) is the best Emu for playing SNES roms.

I can't seem to find any good Playstation ROMS, no matter where I look. Even if I do find them (ala Emuparadise) it takes half of a lifetime to download even ONE part of the file.

I also can't find a good PS Emulator. Even if I do, it's lacking something.

I don't mess with PSX emu very often, because one .iso is a whole cdr, but I've had good results with epsxe. The best place for .isos is torrents, other than that, its hard to find a decent collection of them on the interweb.

Torrents are unreliable. Sometimes they take a half a life time to download, sometimes they take a day...but they are better when you have more seeds and shit.

Does anyone know of a psx emu that will play them off the disc?
Title: Re: SNES Emulator
Post by: Holkeye on April 09, 2007, 01:35:26 AM
epsxe will. Also torrents are very reliable if you know how to use them, and open a port. I've downloaded over 100 games through torrents.

Snes9x is better for emulation, in that theres pretty much nothing it can't play, but Zsnes is much more user friendly and has better netplay functionality. I keep both, in case theres something I can't play with Zsnes. (ussually obscure japanese titles, in general Zsnes will play anything you want it to)

As for dling psx isos... Torrents work fine. =/

What client do you use, and what site do you use?

I don't care about getting an iso of psx games, I just want an emu that will play discs, I have the games.
