Title: Opening prelude?
Post by: Slippy91 on January 21, 2007, 06:15:08 PM
Is there a way i can have a cutscene of text come on at the startup of the game so i can explain the backstory. This might be kind of nondescript but i would like it to kind of be like the begining of the star wars movies where they talk about the backstory and what has happened. I would like for this to be before the first scene of the game loads that way it makes sense. I guess you call them opening credits or something.

is this before or after you see the  new game/load game.

yes you can do this, in many ways. If you want just simple text, turn your make a cut scene with the character set as no image, so he's not visibile. Then just display text. Or if you want fancy, use photoshop or paint and create text in a cool way and save it as a image in teh database. Then make a cutscene and use event command "show picture" and use the picture you made.

Be creative. If you want some breaking news or something, make a newspaper in photoshop.

where do i go to set my char. as no image? Is it event or database? You did very good in  explaining it i just can't find the first step. Just so i can keep going ill probably just make it simple text but when i get finished i can add in the photoshop stuff.

EDIT:

Is this in the database?

Well, probably best to do it in the database, so you don't get any flicker before things start, and change the graphic later.

I set the party to no characeters at the start. And then I plan on using ImageReady to spice up the "prologue", if you can call it that.
