Title: What is the Ultimate Creative Idea Ever?
Post by: Mizyht on January 02, 2007, 10:10:29 PM
THis is my post for what is the ultimate Rpg. I understand people find things different, but it is the most interesting ideas and facts and imagination that tell amazing stories, and fantasies. So really I think It would be gd to discuss what the best ideas are. From heroes becoming villians, or the story starting at the end, or just a simple colourful idea. It would nice for detailed discussions, on character, maps, ideas and atmosphere. Also if many would like to post there versions of sequels to already made games they can such as Golden Sun : Three which still needs to come out!

Final Fantasy...just...Final Fantasy.

Can't get more ultimate than that.

Yes, I guess so. I was addicted to Final fantasy X, although it was ruined in the second one. Bu you've got to have your own ideas for your version of it.

Yea, I'm another big FF fan :D

My personal view, I <3 anti-heroes. Some people say they're getting overused now, but I still think they rock. So my favourite characters would have to be the reluctant heroes who kinda get thrown into the whole thing against their will and go through major changes - I love watching the character development.

As for other ideas I can't really say... because the idea that makes me think "wow, this is awesome!" would probably be something that I'd never think of.

character: I think that the character is the most important aspect of any game, One simply because you cant not have a game that doesn't have a hero/villan and Two characters can add a feel to a game or add somthing thats incomplete
maps: Maps are the legs and arms of a game the help manipulate feelings and such if the mapping is poorly done except poorly done ratings mapping has slipped away due to all thses new people rushing ideas of vast inimaginable maps that they cannot do but thanks to some we have created tutorials for those people to make them better at such things.
atmosphere: The backbone of a game the time/place/where/when/why/how this needs to be unqiue because if your stealing someone elses plot "A.K.A Fangame" your not going to impress anyone in fact you may even anger someone

That concludes our lesson thanks there will be a test on monday :-)

DAMN!

*starts revising*

I've created about 30 maps...and I haven't yet got my second character....*blow me down for trying to compete with ff* Thus I kinda look for quantity of quality. If there is no quality, it's a waste of time making quantity out of it.

So far I think that a good strong story line is good, individual too...so i've taken three great idea's...from other people...and shoved them together to make my own idea...tweaked it...alot, and shoved it into one neat package...that is still taking some shoving.

The only problem I have with mapping is creating shapes and good shops etc. I agree with the fact that mapping is the arms and legs, but it's one of the things that can make a game great, even if the plot line isn't too good.

I'm fairly knew, but i'm creating vast unimaginable maps (i've got a 100x100 village coming together) which i'm going to expand soon.

I don't think personally that the backbone has to be completely unique...only different, and different enough not to feel similar.

So long as you guys are talking about games, the answer is obvious. GAMEPLAY is the most important aspect of a game. It has to be fun or it's not worth the time.

Ultimate creative idea ever?

I'd call it Dungeons & Dragons for the actual rpg - you can't go beyond that.

And Chrono Cross. Definitely Chrono Cross. The story. The sound. The look. The epica. Magnificent.

D&D is overly complex. It's certainly not perfect.

I don' remember typing it's perfect. I do remember saying you cannot go beyond that.  ;)

ULTIMATE PICKLE FARMER NEO GO!!

I dream about this game... mmm....

My point... pretty much any idea could be made into an RPG.  The ULTIMATE idea?  I would say that would mean, what appeals to the majority.  Square-Enix and other companies look at the numbers, and the numbers say FINAL FANTASY.  But of course, there are so many of them, with different storylines and battle systems.  So we're back to coming up with what will appeal to the an average of all rpg gamers.  I don't believe there IS an ultimate rpg idea for everyone!  Variety is the spice!

What I would like to hear is, what is YOUR ultimate idea?

A buddy of mine made a game called "ultimate Rpg" when we were like, 9 or 10. I beta tested it, it was pretty good.

I agree with you! AND OMG! You seem to love FVIII! YAY! Finally, someone who likes it as much as I do! <3

This is my preferred hierarchy in game elements, ordered from most important to less important, for all of them ARE:

Storyline, World & Characters <--> Gameplay (There must be a balance.)

Interactivity

Music

Graphics

Engine (Affects gameplay.)

Console (Not all consoles cost the same, not all consoles have the same amount of users. Not all consoles are good for certain game genres. PC is better for MMO's than game consoles, for example.)

Originality also counts, but I would say it is not an element.

RPGs to me are all about presentations. It doesn't really matter what you do as long as you do it well. After all 'gameplay mechanics' consist of nothing more than 0s and 1s once you get down to the nitty gritty.

A sense of humor, and many different things to do (as long as they're not totally crazy) are all part of the plan.

It's also important to have personality. Your game really shouldn't be like too neat... certain 'glitches' can be fun to exploit if it's part of the game. BUT...

You should really watch how powerful your damage spells are. It's not very fun to win every battle with one area-of-effect overpowered damage spell (Aqualung I'm looking at you). If you do include something like Knights of the Round that's super powerful I think you should create more fights where it can be useful except for like 3... (really it was pointless to use that on anything other than Ruby/Emerald Weapon and the last boss in the game)

Final Fantasy is great, and making a Final Fantasy game is very fine too. Just as long as you bring some of your own flavor to it.
