Title: Looping music
Post by: Lunais on December 30, 2006, 03:56:08 AM
When you play music that comes with the game, like Boss04 for example, it sometimes starts with an opening and then plays the main song. When the main song is over, however instead of starting all the way over, it loops back to the beginning of the main song without replaying the "opening".

How do you make it do this with imported music? I imported "Cry, for IDOLA the Holy" for a battle against an angel boss, and it sounds really weird when in the middle of the battle, the music suddenly fades out, is silent for a few seconds, and then starts from the beginning again.

Actually I'm 89.46% sure that the loop does not do as you said in the first paragraph. The sample music are simply made so that its intro seems continuous with its ending for looping purposes.

Edit: I just listened to the Boss04 thing and noticed what you meant. But, I think it's done by the midi itself repeats the part after the intro.

Edit 2: Nvm I just checked the midi file and it isn't like that. So hence everything I said up there is a waste of space, do not read it. I shall now go to the corner in shame and wait for an answer to this.

Listen to Boss04. The first 6 notes are really long and drawn out, that is the intro. Then there is a short pause, and then the song starts, and then it goes back and plays from after the short pause.

And, because I just got done reading the Chronicles of Naphe, "recollact you're preivous estowment, comminary commonfolk!"

(I'm sorry, I just HAD to do that.)

EDIT: Crapola, you edited while I was posting ><

This actually is a very good question. If it can be answered, it would make a lot of things easier for me as well. So ty for noticing and asking  :P

Until then, I'm just going to split the start and the loop into two seperate files, then right before the boss battle mute all other sound and play the opening as a sound effect, THEN start the battle with the loop.

With a midi editing program you have to set your postition with a socalled loop bit. Check the help file, looping form a point is supported.

I don't have Midi Output software for my audio editing software, so I can't do anything MIDI with it X_x
