Title: I have a problem with the Battle System
Post by: Richter Belmont on December 30, 2006, 03:31:40 AM
I've been working on a small project. I already know how to change from one map to the other, events, etc, etc, etc....

The problem I have is in the battle system. Ok,the battle starts and we have hero A in one side and Enemy B in the other. Let's say I want character A run towards enemy B and attack it, or make enemy B jump towards character A and attack it.

Or, let's say I want Character A jump and land next to enemy B and attack it.

How can I do that?

Seriously I tried to learn things by myself, but I am running out of patience.

Well, in order to change the battle system in that manner, youre going to have to experiment with various "custom battle scripts" which can be found fairly easily by searching around the web. It takes some work, and a pretty good understanding of the ruby coding system, so if this is your first game, i'd suggest just using what RPGMaker has built in. It'll get you used to editing a battle system, without having to worry about custom codes. Once youve got some practice under your belt, THEN try a Custom System. However, if you just want to go ahead and leap into it, heres a link that might be helpfull:

Best of luck to you, gamer!

Thanks, I will take your advice and go one step at a time. I will take a look at the link and see how much information I can gather on that matter.
