Hi, this is my first tut, in fact its my second topic! but anyway I thought I'd share a thing I use in my game where you can hire mercenarys to fight beside you, heres how its done.
1. first creat an actor, name him/her 'mercenary' and set there base level as something higher than one, give them some weapons and set the weapons on 'fix' so you cant equipt or un-equipt them.
2. creat a common event and call it 'mercenary go' or something and set it to parrelel process, put a conditional branch, leave the 'else' are blank, now put 'Actor - mercenary - state - knockout - remove actor mercenary from party'.
3. now put an event somewhere, I suggest in a weapons shop but it doesn't matter where, put a conditinal brantch, set as 'actor - mercenary - in party - set move route - this event - octapacy 255' and in else put text like " you can hire me for a mere 50 gold" or something then show choices 'hire' or 'dont hire' under 'hire' put a conditional brantch, gold is - 50 or more - deduct 50 gold - add party member mercenary - text "the mercenary has joined your party" else - text "you dont have enough gold".
there now you can hire mercenarys :)

Nice tut. I had used a different way of doing that but your's sounds easier. I think I will integrate it into one of my games when i restore my DB of my server... i got nothing now besides my game i am working on now...
