Title: [Solved] Fighting of the Spirit MIDI track
Post by: da good king on April 30, 2011, 03:17:43 AM
So, this has been nagging at me for years now:
In the good old days I downloaded a custom MIDI that was the song "Fighting of the Spirit" from Tales of Phantasia; downloaded off of rmdatabase.net.

Well, since then I've had so many computer crises that I've lost all my files more than once. As such, the track is long gone; the sad part is, rmdatabase has also bit the cyber-dust it seems, and has lost its domain...

So, I'm wondering if anyone has that track or knows where I could find it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Well, it's MP3, but you can convert it to MIDI if you really want to. I've attached it (http://rmrk.net/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=42473.0;attach=23318) at the bottom of this post.

First off, thanks for the posts and links!
Now, it's clear to me which version it was that I liked so much, and that's the original SNES version. There was just something this guy did with it in MIDI form that sounded amazing. It didn't sound as much like "dings" or tones, but a fluid brass instrument. I'm gonna try converting to MIDI form and maybe see if tweaking it with a MIDI editor will get it the way I'm looking for.

EDIT: hmm I've noticed that with a lot of old tracks I listened to as a kid, I seem to have exaggerated the memory in my head. Most likely this is because then such tracks were new and exciting and we didn't have flashy new mp3s with high-quality sounds to compare to. Anyways, the link Holkami gave me led me to what I believe is what I'm actually looking for. Thanks again. (I think this can be labeled solved)
