Title: Why Sonic Games have gone downhill
Post by: Arkbennett on August 23, 2007, 08:37:24 PM
Turns out, the old Sonic was in a horrible accident (http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/297089).
And the new one just can't cut.

On, don't get me wrong, the Adventures series was GREAT!
But ever since then, it went done a hill and off a cliff.

Sonic Heros.. Well. Yeah.
And I hear Sonic the Hedgehog was nothing special either, with an amazing amount of glitchs.
I watched my friend play the Secret Rings.
It wasn't..
Cool.

The Sonic series is getting kinda crap. The whole transition from 2D to 3d must have been painstakingly difficult.

The best sonic games  are the ones  i seen people make themselves. Search for sonic gl. Its pretty good but to bad development for it stopped. Also someones been making sonic genesis for halo.

The heard the secret rings was the best of of the new gen sonics.

I rented it, and I would say its the best 3D sonic I have ever played, but that doesn't make it very good.  Although its not a bad game, it doesnt hold up to the 2D legend of sonic 1,2,3, and sonic and knuckles.

sega should do a new sega game 2d on like ps2 or wii or w/e and make it huge so long you have to spend like 50 hours to beat it
i find games are too short these days. *cough* Dirge of Cerberus *cough*

I could go into some MASSIVE rant about how I am getting so sick and tired of all the younger people who saw Advent Children and played Dirge of Cerberus, and think they are the ultimate FFVII fanboy. I bought the game as soon as it came out, meaning I win. I didn't stay there crying over Aeris or thinking about how awesome Sephiroth was, I moved onto 8, and then at 9 but as soon as I heard that J-Pop coming out of my 10 disc, I broke it, on purpose, with my hands.

Back on topic, the Wii Sonic got bad reviews because it was short and it had some gameplay issues, less then the new Sonic the Hedgehog game. (By glitches, I mean, not ratings) Having that kind of 3D game type must take the BEST team there is, meaning the Havok physics engines, the guys who did the camera angles from Prince of Persia or Gears of War, the writing team from that one game everyone loves, and better fucking voice overs. "Sonic! Oh... no!" "I'll.... defeat you... Shadow!"

At least they didn't make games like SONIC GOES TO THE MALL. Or SONIC THE ELECTRICITAN. Dammit mario...

I have Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, and Sonic Heros..
When they tried putting "Stealth" into Sonic Heros, I stopped playing right around there.

the 2d ones arn't anything in comparison to mario games. Or megaman, its just holding down one side and jumping until your at a boss.

Hate to tell you, but sonic 2,3, and knuckles, are all better than the megaman games.

I'm not a fan of either series, Megaman or Sonic. Never owned a Genesis, never touched a Megaman until Megaman like, 7X.

Capcom has to slow down with megaman for a few years and then release the final game as for sonic same thing sega has to slow down
look at what they did with Phantasy Star Online it was like 4 years till they released Phantasy Star Universe and its a awesome game.

I was actually hoping thats what capcom did with megaman legends, but now it seems they're never gonna make a third installment.
