Okay. Hopefully, this topic will stay relatively small.
Here's the demo again, just so nobody's confused about which one they've DL'd

Hopefully this one will work.

Okay. I'll fix the blue potion thing.
Mental, that's nothing special. The first dungeon was made to be
relatively easy. The rest of the game will be challenging.

Holy crap...15 minutes? ....slow upload speeds. Anyway, besides the point, the intro (well at least the part of it I can get through) is very nicely done. I'm trying to get a scripter right now (like Slipknot or Dubealex) to modify their AMS or add something to it so rather than having the text write across the screen, it fades in and out....hopefully it can be done because rmxp doesn't allow .gif extensions. That would probably be a good replacement for the intro text...all dramatic and such.  8)

And yes, 15 minutes to get 46 mb from my comp to the web.  :D
Not much longer, now. Hopefully I can get it done before my mom gets

EDIT: There, I edited the link. Hopefully it will work this time.

Just a suggestion, Instead of buying full red potions etc. why not make it like normal zelda and have it so you need an empty bottle.
Can be easily done with common events/conditional branches!

rmxp.

But 46 megs. I won't have a good 3 hours of being on the internet for a long time, though so I can't play it. BY THE TIME I DOWNLOAD IT, IT BETTER WORK, BECAUSE I HAVE TO BE VERY PATIENT TO WAIT UNTIL I GET THE CHANCE TO DOWNLOAD IT, AND THEN I WILL HAVE TO WAIT 3 HOURS!! Okay. I haven't been able o contact zshadowzero27 or mangadude5760 and
they were my main spriters. So now, I need someone that can sprite for me.

I need the following sprite sets:

2. Ganondorf
3. Goron
4. Zora
5. The 6 sages (from ocarina of time)

Alright, I'll try converting them to .ogg. Anyways, yes the game lags like
hell. I think it was you that pointed out the anti-lag script. You could use
that. it's mainly the battle system that creates the lag. Also, I can't script
for beans so I don't know how to put hearts instead of a meter.

Anyways, remember the bugs and then let me know so that I can fix them.
Title: The Legend of Zelda: The Sages' Revival
Post by: Blizzard on March 25, 2006, 10:59:49 PM
You can let it be a meter. Let Link start of with 1500HP (3 hearts). For every beaten Boss, you just increase his HP by 500. MP you could make 1000 and after a while 2000. And with another side quest 4000. And after finding 4 heart pieces, remove them from his inventory and add another 500HP. How does it sound, huh?

@Kairo: Thanks for at least being honest, but like Blizzard said, it's not easy
making this game up to zelda standards.

@Yossy & Blizzzard: I used the castle interior tileset. It's more of a haunted
castle. And I did have a creepy background sound that had footsteps and
whispers, but I didn't put it in with demo 'cuz it was unnecessary. The castle
has no enemies, just a bunch of slightly complex puzzles.

It took me a long time to finish that castle.

So...Yossy, how goes the title screen?

Hang on. I just finished installing the zelda game maker and..it kind of sucks.
I have yet to figure out how to import music or charcters or monsters and to
me, it's just plain hard to understand. So...I'll finish Part 1 of my game with
RMXP and then I'll try to figure out how to use the zelda game maker well.

Action Battler System. The first version of my demo that I posted here
had no ABS. it was a pure RPG. Many people didn't like it tha much.

Yep. And it's challenging enough to make a zelda fangame up to zelda standard.
So for now, I'm ditching the zelda game maker. I'll save it for another project
I had in mind...

stopping by for a bit...seriously though...

anyways, ive tried the Zelda Game Maker and its pretty fuckin hard... Anyways, I just think that RMXP isnt to the style enough, but i think MoT's game is a good RPG, not considering it is Zelda, and still, it does a fairly good job of mixing both worlds. The only problem that could crop up is the attacking/item animations. If only XP legal was free, we could all just use the scripts being made on RMXP.net...T_T

the guy making OoT 2D did it. I'm sticking to RMXP Postality Knights Edition.

Yo, that Zelda Game Maker sounds pretty interesting... I may look into it.

Here's how your title screen is looking:
Is it okay so far?

I have a sketch of Link in progress, once I finish it I'll scan it and color it and put him on the right side of the title screen.  How is that sounding?

One question, because I do not commonly use RMXP:  Can the final title screen be saved as a .JPG or does it have to be a .PNG?
Title: The Legend of Zelda: The Sages' Revival
Post by: Master_of_Time on March 28, 2006, 12:27:05 AM
Either one. I usually use PNG, but you can make it either one.

I'm glad you like it. :^^:   I like how it's all like ZOOOOOMMM!!!  I was worried that you wouldn't like the fact that it was blue, as if it were favoring only one piece of the Triforce or something.  Personally, I don't like blue.  But before I made it go all ZOOOOOMMMM it looked like water, which I thought was pretty.  The border thing with the elf girlie was ripped by me from a Game Boy Color game, Lodoss Tou Senki: Eiyuu Kishiden (Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight).

So.

What charsets were you looking for?

None I can name off the top of my head... I know I can't sprite...  BUT!  The goron and Zelda are obtainable if you were to rip them from Minish Cap.  I forget if there are zoras in that game... I don't think so.

Edit:  I just found this spritesheet of Zelda from Four Swords, it could easily be converted into a RMXP charset.

eh...wait. I dont really think thats advisable. Minish Cap sprites are way, unbelievably different style and perspective from rmxp. at best, a Zelda in this fashion would look...out of place. I suggest RMXP.net, there are plenty of decent, if not good spriters there.

Hey, guess what? I've added a cool side quest. In Kingdom Hearts, there's
Olympus Colisseum. There, you compete in tournaments and win prizes and
such. Well, I've added a "tournament" to the game. You get to participate in
mtaches between famous video game heroes and villains in the *drumroll*

Hylian Arena!!!

So...yeah. There's 6 matches so far:

1. Mushroom Match
2. Maverick Match
3. Star Match
4. Kingdom Match
5. Shadow Match
6. Final Match

SWEET! so...i take it Mushroom is against Mario, correct? or would it be bowser? remember, in Kingdom Hearts you fought against Yuffy and Leon, so it doesnt have to just be villains.
what are the other ones? Star sounds like KIrby, Kingdom...no idea...Shadow? oh well, just tell me ^.^

just one thing...dont just have battler battles one after another...you should  have it like...i dunno...show the thing on the screen then have it go into battle, alot less tacky.

What exactly do you mean?
Title: The Legend of Zelda: The Sages' Revival
Post by: Lord Dante on March 31, 2006, 04:22:13 AM
well, for instance, if you just say like:

"Enter Mushroom Kingdom Tournament" and then it goes straight to the battle, that would be kindof wierd. So...maybe what you could do is instead, have it where Link goes to the arena, and Mario and Luigi come out...then theres like an announcer who says stuff, THEN the battle starts. ya know?

also, hopefully the tournaments wont just be the bosses. if youve ever played KH, then you know how a good tournie should be
Title: The Legend of Zelda: The Sages' Revival

Title: The Legend of Zelda: The Sages' Revival
Post by: Lord Dante on March 31, 2006, 05:38:33 AM
alright...do they have to move?

anyways...the guard armor will have to either be downsized/not move/be different charsets

is it okay if they're all from the style of their game? (e.g. Mario and Luigi would be Superstar Saga Styled)

edit: Im leaving for Israel on SUnday for two weeks, i wont be able to do anything. However, i can get some of them together before i go
Title: The Legend of Zelda: The Sages' Revival

No, they don't have to move. And, don't worry about finishing them by Sunday.
I can wait 2 weeks. Thanks, Lord Dante. You've done a lot to help out this game.
Title: The Legend of Zelda: The Sages' Revival
Post by: Lord Dante on March 31, 2006, 06:38:30 AM
...ouch, i blinked >.>

they dont have to move...ok...well, do you want an idle stance for the Guard armor? like...have it moving in place? because, if youve played KH, you also know that the Guard Armor is really...wacky. itd be easy to, all you'd have to do is set it to moving animation...

and i do wish youd've replied sooner. ive spent the last hour and a half setting up and perfecting GA walking animation (still not perfect) oh well, it wasnt very far in yet anyways. oh, i have an idea.

like...the GA has an idle stance, right? well, maybe Mario and Luigi could do something...nah, nevermind, itd be to hard. ANyways...

how will the battle be announced?liek...

Reason: to know which way to make the sprites facing (since half are side-view, i suggest going with the first option)
Title: The Legend of Zelda: The Sages' Revival
Post by: Master_of_Time on March 31, 2006, 06:57:36 AM
I was planning on doing the last option. (Link on bottom, Enemy on top)
But whatever you have most finished or whatever's easier for you, I'll go with.
So...yeah, I guess if yu have GA moving then I'll make him move.
Title: The Legend of Zelda: The Sages' Revival
Post by: Lord Dante on March 31, 2006, 07:19:18 AM
ok...

here, its GA, Mario and Luigi as if it were the first option:

Mario: (https://rmrk.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi3.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fy64%2Fdemonoft%2FMario.png&hash=4aabadd46b6d3c799e93c366a8b21e54e625e464)

GA:(this is different...its not supposed to move until you tell it to. like, if the announcer goes "let the battle begin!" (or something) then youd use the "move event" command and then use the "change graphic" comand to change it, along with a couple waits and a sound effect)

Yes, Mario and Luigi are simple SS sprites put into a charsheet. Ignore the checkers, just set it to 'move animation' and itll look fine.

Wow. Haven't been here, in, what, 10,000 years? (Not been using RPG Maker lately)
Seems like good progress on your game so far.
And I decided I'm too lazy to make sprites for you. But if you need x and zero from any megaman game, then try http://megaman-sprites.net
Thats where I went to get srpites for my game(MY GAME MAKER GAME!)
I'm think that that tournament idea is pretty neat.
In Legend Retold, a game of mine for rmxp, there was a torunament where you fight all the rtp main characters(arshes and stuff), which your idea reminded me of.

And also, what is your games current file size after resizing those WAVEs?

Yeah, I know. Midi's are just a few kilobytes. WAVES, .ogg's and mp3's are all
in megabytes. They're simply too big. If I took out all the non-midi music from

Sorry for double-post but this is important. I need 3 people who would be willing
to be "Beta Testers" for my game. That means that I will e-mail you the demo
and you have to play it and tell me wether it's okay before I post it here.

To qualify, you must:

1. not be shy about giving criticism
2. be willing to explore EVERYTHING in the game
3. be able to play my game without it crashing.

The first 3 people to post saying they meet the qualifications will get the job.

Anyways, if there's so many people willing to test, then I'll have more than 3 testers.

Current Testers
Blizzard
Yossy/Dragonmagna (count as 1)
Zxmelee (wait...did he actually want to test?)
Lord Dante.

If nobody else wnats to test, then that's all there will be.

What you will need variables set one to health and put it to 5. Everytime a monster hits you it goes down one everytime you kill a monster they drop a heart. Then you gain 1 health.Hit common events and make it so that if you hit A you do sword animation if you hit B you use spell information ETC.

Very close. Look closely at the beginning of "irimson" the first and third symbols are different.
And uh..mingle, you know...mingle...yeah...mingle as in "mix" or "interact"

Q and X are special. The Q sound is written as "KW" so the word "QUEEN" would be spelled "KWEEN"
Same goes with X except it uses the "KS" sound. So the word "BOX" would be "BOKS"

Also, if the X makes a "Z" sound like in xylophone, it gets replaced with "Z".

I forgot the symbol for J. I'll PM you a pic with the entire alphabet, including punctuation.

The owner (owners?) of RMXP supposedly decided they didn't want to keep the site going, so they stopped paying for it. That's what I heard was going to happen last month. I don't go there so I have no idea, but it's happening to everyone. If that's true, then there's your answer. But don't hold me to it. (Please, no one else make a discussion of this in this topic. Start one somewhere else.)
