Title: Advertising policy
Post by: AlianceKing2007 on January 04, 2006, 03:02:18 PM
You must have atleast 30 posts on this forum to advertise your site.  If you advertise your own site on this forum and you have under 30 posts, your thread will be locked and your URL deleted.

Maybe a rule about having members with forums have at least 50 members?

If not then you cannot advertise your forum?

Just a thought. I see it alot.

15 posts is good, so then at least the new members will contribute to the forums a little bit.

15?!

Make 30 out of it.

i think 15 is a ok number because think about it,most new members join and post say 3 messages and then they leave since they dont want to get 15 posts to advertise, but if they want to stay they will contribute 15 posts(non spam) to get advertisement privalages

I changed it to 30 because that's actually what it was until the forums went down.

This is a very good idea, most Forums are doing this now. A whole lot of people join communities just to advertise, not to post, chat, or anything. I like this rule, thirty is an understandable condition.

30 posts is a great number. It's not that hard to get, if you are genuinely interested  in the site, like me! Took me about 1 hour 30 minutes to get my 30, and no posts were spam  :)

Keep spamming up and you might get there (http://rmrk.net/index.php?action=profile;u=3410;sa=showPosts), unless your posts get deleted ;8

Ok.

But what do you think of inactievity. If a member is more than (example) a year offline, all his/her post's including the account will be deleted. Or is that inpossible becoase the many members here ?

If we deleted all posts and accounts over a year old, the forums would be half the size it is now.

30 posts is a good idea, as for the 50 members thing I sa yes and no 50 members if they only have a forum. If they got a site to back it up; no 50 members needed.

Hmmm, I didn't see that rule till now. I guess in my haste I missed it, and got totally owned, lol. Oh well.

As for the 50 members thing, I think that's bad. I mean, if they are promoting to get more members (or in my case, enough to even make a card) then I think there shouldn't be a cap.

There's one rule I'd really like to see added here, if it isn't already.

I think we should encourage members to only reply if they have something useful to say.  That is, to only reply with well-intentioned comments and constructive criticism about the website.  A fair rating if they can.

What do you think?
Title: Re: New Advertising policy
Post by: Arrow on October 09, 2007, 07:49:46 PM
I agree with you up until well-intentioned comments. Sometimes people just bring the bad onto themselves, and we shouldn't have to walk on eggshells just to make them feel good when they've done something like...well you can think of an example, I'm sure. The rest I'd say is great.

Another thing: DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, MAKE MULTIPLE TOPICS ABOUT YOUR SITE, REGARDLESS OF SUBJECT MATTER.

I guess it doesn't matter all that much because it's stickied, but try not to post in threads from 2007. It's sort of frowned upon.

Also that's your first post? How can you even see this?
