Title: [Music] Project: RMRK Tribute Album
Post by: Malson on September 22, 2006, 02:51:56 AM
I started this on Crankeye.org, and I'll bring it over here. Here's the rules.

    * Post here telling me whether or not you want a song for you on the album.
    * There's only ONE song for each member.
    * Tell me what genre you'd like it in, and what you want it to be about.
    * Any other additional information you'd like to add would help.

I don't want to have to do any more than 20 songs, so the first 20 members to post here saying they want in will get in, with some restrictions. You must have at least 100 posts, and be fairly reputable, in order to have a song written for you. I'm not writing songs for a hundred newbies who say they want one.

The songs will be composed in MIDI format, and if I have time I'll make MP3 recordings for each song. These songs will be fully instrumental, no vocals. The reason I say this is because I don't want to have to dub my voice over an MP3, and no one likes listening to random oboes on MIDI.

Any questions, feel free to ask. So, let's get started!

The album layout thus far: [Set up as song name (Forum member, genre)]

01. Wanted Dead! (FuMannChu, Darkwave)
02. The Life And Times Of Earl Byrne (arlenreyb, Jazz)
03. The Halo Of The Sun (HaloOfTheSun, Symphonic Rock)
04. Arrow Of The Chosen One (arrowone, Speed Metal)
05. Sexy Man Beast (GilgameshRO, Porn Groove)
06. Your Line Remains Silver (Silverline, Symphonic Piano)
07. Dance Of Diablo's Angels (Angelic_Diablo, Techno)
08. The Guy Who Liked Swords (Dr_Swordopolis, Battle Rock)
09. Let's Watch Some Canadian Video Tutorials! (Zxmelee, Metalcore)
10. Kiette's Celtic Crap (Tsunokiette, Celtic March)
11. Zeriacid (Zeriab, Acid Jazz)
12. Yo, She-Geek! (Yossy, Cute...metal...techno?)

Did silver request that title? I would have thought he would pick something like, "Silver Lining", like a cloud, ya know?

If I had any musical talent, I would totally submit something.

Alas, I do not.

I guess you guys missed the purpose of the thread. I am writing these songs. For you. If you so wish. Just give me a song name and genre, and I'll write you a song. Especially you two, Blizzard and Yossy.

Ohhhhhh, now I understand.  Sweet!

Um, well, I'm the girliest person ever so it would have to be something "cute."  But, my favorite musician is Paul Oakenfold, who composes ridiculously amazing techno/trance.  You have probably heard his music without associating it to is name... he did some tracks for The Matrix soundtrack, and has also composed for some video games such as Goldeneye: Rogue Agent.  I've also heard his songs in TV commercials... "Ready Steady Go" on a car commercial and "Starry-Eyed Surprise" for a Coca-Cola advertisement.  So, if you could do something in that style, that'd be completely amazing and I would marry you.

If you could do a metal/techno arrangement of Stage 1-1 from Kirby's Dream Land 3, that would be the most perfect thing ever...  (I'll try to find a MIDI of it for you...)

edit: I couldn't find any MIDI's of that particular tune, so I made it myself (http://www.angelfire.com/mech/rhetoric/kirbydl3-stage1.mid) (you have to right-click and download it to listen... simply clicking will lead you to an Error 404 page... Angelfire is very overprotective).  I know remixing that to become metal/techno sounds impossible, but when I say you can "arrange" it, I mean you could make it completely unrecognizable as the tune it once was... but it has to be awesome techno at the same time!  So I guess that genre would be called "Cute Metal Techno?"  That sounds amazing.

Lol, Kiette's Celtic Crap, I like that.

I am very familiar with Paul Oakenfold, and can do a song in that style for you. However, a remix of another song just wouldn't really fit in with the concept of the album, but I can make that a side project for you since you're so cool.

No side project necessary... But, yes, I am very cool.

this idea sounds cool but when do you think it will be finished

Good question. I don't know myself. I'll try to devote as much free time to it as possible, but music writing isn't something I normally force myself to do, so I'm not setting any deadlines right now. I'm starting with Halo's song (drew from a hat), so when I finish that I'll post it here.

Yeah, I just hope I can find a way to do wah-wah in MIDI. Every good porn groove has an awesome wah-wah guitar in it.

Do I get to pick the title of my song?  I wanna name it "Yo, She-Geek!"  Tee hee!  The pun is that "yo she" is how "Yossy" is supposed to be pronounced. ;D

If you care, a new Oakenfold cd was released a couple months ago, titled "A Lively Mind"... best music I ever heard.  I recommend it to everyone.

Furthermore, why do you think Arrowone is homosexual?

In a forum game topic, I said the next person to post was a blatant homosexual, and I would declare so in my signature. Arrow couldn't resist the opportunity.

Let's get back to topic, even though I'm partially to blame for it. We don't want to spam up a good topic, there are plenty of stupid topics in Spam to do that to.

Unfortunately, I look nothing like that.  She looks taller than me, and I'm not blonde.  I think I'm a lot skinnier than her, too.   o_o   Also, I prefer quarterstaves over whips.

edit:  For what it's worth, I've had people tell me I look like Xianghua.  According to the info in her profile (http://www.eternal-legend.com/playerone/xianghua.shtml), she's very close to my height and weight.  AND she's brunette!  Even if my hair is a lot longer than that.

Sweet.

Well, see, I was just living up to my videogame-dorkiness, and was thinking of Amazons in such games as Ogre Battle, etc.

It's okay. According to everyone I've talked to, my writer's block has ended with this little ditty I made, so I'm back in business.

Also Fu, what the hell is Darkwave?
