Title: Switch and variable help

is this even in the correct area?oh well...i am currently makin an rpg of a book im writing,but i do not understand everything yet.i know enough to get my on my feet,but i have a few questions.
i have checked all da tuts,but they only complicate the fact.what are variables and switches?
