Title: [Visual] Lunahan's Art
Post by: Lunahan on October 14, 2006, 06:11:56 PM
Hey.. I thought I'd give a go at posting some of my art.

(https://rmrk.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg115.imageshack.us%2Fimg115%2F9563%2Forigi02pn6.th.jpg&hash=327c49ea9db905a6cfe8dd2e181c76128b81fb25) (http://img115.imageshack.us/my.php?image=origi02pn6.jpg)

This is Viola the fallen angel from my series, Tesoro Hunters. Viola's pretty much the main "badguy" of the series, and normally they have wings, but I didn't add the wings in this picture so it would focus more on Viola instead of the wings.

(https://rmrk.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg123.imageshack.us%2Fimg123%2F8452%2Forigi01zv3.th.jpg&hash=cdecda8d734e23e5fff1b99083390146fe3436e6) (http://img123.imageshack.us/my.php?image=origi01zv3.jpg)

These people here are the main characters for Tesoro Hunters.. The red haired boy is Alduin Edelgerd, the hero of the story. The girl behind him is his adopted sister, Dire. The man with the green hair is Remigius Alucian, a warrior from the Olujimi tribe in the west, and the blue haired boy is Sarry, one of the very few magic users to ever exist.. So.. together, they're all treasure hunting together.

Tesoro Hunters is actually something I'm going to turn into an rpg. It's gonna take some time, though. And the sprites take so long for me to make. *cries*

This is Lorelei from another series of mine called Avalon...

That's it for now, I'll post some more later on. But I hope you like...

:o Awsome.  Wow.  Good job on all of those.  They all looks so nice and coloful and live.  I wish I could photoshop =(.  I can't though...that sucks.

I have one question though...Is Viola a boy or girl?  I can't seem to tell. :(

Those look suspiciously Korean styled.

Anyway, they're all good except for the last one's left hand.

Um..  I guess it depends on how you look at it. I'm not sure how you mean.
Thanks for the tip about the left hand. I'll take it into consideration and be more careful next time.

I have one question though...Is Viola a boy or girl?  I can't seem to tell. :(

According to some people, angels were believed to have been genderless... so that's what Viola is. Although, they tend to act more like a girl than a boy so it's up to you how you want to entitle him/her.

Thankyou for the comments. ^^

the coloring is amazing. at first glane i didnt really see any individual style. like that high percentage of people who draw anime have that similar trying-to-be-anime way of drawing....but after looking more at it, i like your eye-style and how you draw hair. the only thing that bugs me is that guy's open mouth.

I would like to see the original works, before they were colored on the computer, if that's okay. ;D

Obviously, you are very talented when it comes to working on a computer.  However, it seems that their faces are very angular... some of the characters' limbs/fingers/etc. are out of proportion, or just anatomically impossible.  Even considering all of that, anime is a very lenient style, so you can get away with it. :P  Myself, I am not a fan of anime, so the errors just stand out to me.

Oh, of course. Actually... I only have one uncolored picture on me at the moment... but here's what it looked like before it was colored... which isn't heck of alot more different but ah well.

(https://rmrk.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg508.imageshack.us%2Fimg508%2F4098%2Fdraft2lv9.th.jpg&hash=5a2e5da83a0e8f7cc388782707a419b693f22ed9) (http://img508.imageshack.us/my.php?image=draft2lv9.jpg) (https://rmrk.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg102.imageshack.us%2Fimg102%2F4374%2Fdraft1jh7.th.jpg&hash=9b1b1aae60b82193fc55b3cc00948e6c1ceef020) (http://img102.imageshack.us/my.php?image=draft1jh7.jpg)

There's also an uncolored fanart for the manga/anime, D-Gray Man.. that I've yet to color. ;_;

Yes... I understand that... but in the end, all I am is a novice artist and I don't think I'll be able to get up there with the big time manga artists... but I like to keep drawing anyway.

Thanks everyone for your compliments... I've got character draft sketches of characters from my series, Tesoro Hunters that I want to put up. So I'll do that soon!

Novice is an understatement.

You're an advanced artist, even if your proportions are slightly off.

I am a novice artist.

Anyway, the thin angular-ishness is what it makes it look Korean.

Also, the not yet colored fanart is the best of all your artworks in terms of proportions.

Wow, you actually don't put any shading or indication of pupils or anything in their eyes until you color it?  I haven't seen it done that way before.  I guess it works for you.

I also find it interesting that you don't create background stuff, like clouds and trees, until the computer composition.  What technique do you use for the clouds?

I also find it interesting that you don't create background stuff, like clouds and trees, until the computer composition.  What technique do you use for the clouds?

I use Photoshop 7.0. All I basically do it squiggle colors around for the clouds and use the smudge tool (lots.. and lots of smudging..) to make the soft wave like effect, and then do the same for the shading and shadows inside the clouds. And then I use the spatter  filter.

Well... sometimes I do have to draw the backgrounds... especially is there's trees involved.

(https://rmrk.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg508.imageshack.us%2Fimg508%2F2127%2Fsfcw9.th.jpg&hash=7df62376f57005c3d87f9a271b814daf7255e5c6) (http://img508.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sfcw9.jpg)

But in the end, I color over the lines and get rid of them. Drawing your BG first really does help alot.

its good. i love the coloring on the tree. so you just use photoshop to color it?

Yeah. It used to take be forever to start coloring something and only have it come out as a piece of crap. But now that I'm completely used to photoshop, I can color alot faster... .. ...and even know what I'm doing sometimes. I swear, there has only been a few pieces that I actually had planned out. Other stuff turns out to be a catastrophe for me to deal with.

I actually just recently got this new program (well... new to me..), Open Canvas Plus... but the only thing I know how to do with it is stare at it. I really have no idea what I'm doing with it.

Lunahan, you save seperate versions of teh art besides just Line-art and Fully CG'd?
...Show us more!

I really don't have alot of stuff that much due to the fact I actually haven't been drawing a terrible lot lately.

Oh... I guess theres these.

(https://rmrk.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg242.imageshack.us%2Fimg242%2F7242%2Ftes01db6.th.jpg&hash=4ad0e0aca48995441eed81cb8b4cad98c9427052) (http://img242.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tes01db6.jpg)
This is the almost complete piece.... in the end, I found myself liking this piece better. -_-

(https://rmrk.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg124.imageshack.us%2Fimg124%2F6233%2Ftes02ka7.th.jpg&hash=cd2353cec88dcea1f39259806c4d4afd88cf7a8e) (http://img124.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tes02ka7.jpg)
And without a bg at all..

I'm afraids there's not alot as of late.. once of the reasons is because I'm feeling really feverish... and I have things I need to get some... in fact, I probably shouldn't even be on the pc.. but I guess I could show some other stuff...

Here's a sample battler from the game of Tesoro Hunters I'm making..
(https://rmrk.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg111.imageshack.us%2Fimg111%2F6702%2Fsarrynq3.png&hash=92ca0b7c2bfb04c2a5e95e128e2186d6293d5b47) (http://imageshack.us)

(https://rmrk.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg419.imageshack.us%2Fimg419%2F883%2Fgameirrikit8.png&hash=64a35f354ebdf9b95bd60c40426e8b93cb97be9d) (http://imageshack.us)

And this one here is one of the few battlers I'm doing for Unholy_Fallen since they requested someone to make battlers for them. I still have two more to make...

And last but not least... two incomplete sketches from another series of mine, Midnight Raiders. (No game plans for this... it's a manga.)

http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/4047/charnanashigp8.jpg
This guys here is Nanashi. The main character of the series. He's kind of a moody demon hunter who will get rid of monsters in exchange for money. He hardly ever gets paid though because his boss is a jackass. -_-;

http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/733/charivorybv6.jpg
And this is Lady Ivory. She's an antagonist in the story and also a demon hunter. But she's going after Nanashi because someone paid her to.

That's it so far... and there still alot of characters to draw. I haven't even started coloring these two yet. *sighs and drops head onto the table*

....

I talk too much.

Ah, whoa, dude, the perspective here is way off.  The hand itself is okay, but from this angle, the viewer should be able to see inside the sleeve at least a little bit, and you could have added more folds & such on the outside of the sleeve so you can tell that his arm is pointing away from his body and toward the viewer.  I would also expect more of his right shoulder to be visible, because we have a 3/4 view of his torso.  I would also have added more hair to the back of his head so his skull isn't quite so disproportionately narrow.

Thankyou. I've read your pointers carefully and I've added those changes onto the battler...or at least did what I could. So I'll have to scan it in again and recolor it later... just don't expect it to be perfect. I've still got over 21 battlers to make and I'm running on a fever. Not to mention I need to complete 17 more sprites and draw scenes too. ._. Work work work... I hope this game is worth it in the end. Heh.

I like them all very much.  they are so clean and tidy...even when not colored.  I also love the style of the pictures.

However, I also agree that the hand on that one person is a little odd.  I shouldn't say much though...I still can't draw hands good.   ;D

I know... x_X Yossy kindly pointed out all my mistakes and I've already corrected all of them. Well... I tried anyway. XD But that's as good as it's gonna get for me, I guess. But you won't be able to see the changes until I actually get somewhere with my game. >_>;

I thought you were leaving. You know, like it says you did in your user title, and signature. If you're lying about leaving, and also about getting the forum shut down, how can we believe anything else you say?

edit: Actually, you don't have to answer that. We all know you just keep coming back because nobody's visiting your forum, and you're just trying to promote your project.

hm. I like the silly hat.

howcome lunahan hasnt posted recently? hes too good for us i suppose...lol...

but i mean, as good as his art is, it isnt like "automatically blow my mind" good. It still has its flaws, as yossy pointed out.

I think Lunahans a girl, actually.  Well...I'm not certain...but it does say "female" in her profile thingy when you click on his/her name.  Just give Juna time, s/he'll post when the time is right.

Lunahan seems nice enough, and if worst comes to worst, I don't think she would cling to Naphe to tightly.

lol..

...

lol!

I'm sorry, I never meant to give you the impression that my stuff's "blow your mind" good. I never look at my art like that... and it wasn't my intention to try to make anyone think like that.. because I certainly don't. I've said it before.. I'm a novice artist. There are plenty of artists here who are ten times better.

I haven't been on alot lately because I'm trying to keep my baby sisters from being taken away from a bad man. I really don't want to get into the details unless you really wanna know. I'm having a hard time, so you'll have to excuse me if I don't post alot lately...

When do you think we will see anything new from you? lol.  I was just wondering is all.

I haven't been working on alot of pictures lately. Actually, I wasn't even aware that those sketches were posted on here until today... weird.
But well, the only thing I've got right now is a shot of something I'm in the middle of. I pulled out my tablet I haven't played with for a while... so I'm drawing and coloring this sketch using only the tablet...

...um... by the way, I'm a girl. ^^; People always got be confused for a boy for some reason everytime I joined a forum.

Especiall considering your character design is based on ".hack" (whatever that is).  This brings up an interesting topic of possible conspiracy!  zomg is .hack stealing character designs from sega?!
