Say I've got a guard who says 'Halt!' and I want to provide the option of fighting him so he ends up disappearing so i can get past him, how do I connect the effects of battle to event actors?

I tried with a guard but after I defeated the combat version of the guy in battle, I couldn't figure out how to say 'if guard in battle dies, event sprite also disappears'.

You can just continue the event right after Battle Processing, like as if the battle was just a text message that you went through. You should probably turn on a self switch after the battle command and create a new event page that opens when that self switch is on.

You could do this alot of different ways. Zylos is def right, using a self switch after battle to trigger a page in the Event is the way to do it. But I suggest doing something before triggering the Self Switch, like a message saying something like, "I COULD OF WON IF IT WEREN'T FOR MEDDLING KIDS AND THAT DOG OF YOURS"! Then having the Event change graphic to the guard laying down....then after a while having it fade away (Use a move event, change the opacity of the character) into nothing. It gives the Player a sense of accomplishment. Haha, guess I like flare.  ^-^

any idea how to use those down icons? Whenever i try to make the corpse version of the guard, I see an old lady instead. It's like the whole set of 'dead' actors is on one sheet and when they "move" they look like they shape shift.

Otherwise, everything you guys said worked out.

I followed a conditional branch, like Else..."Halt!" with "Battle Processing" and
then turned on a self switch that basically makes the icon change/say "..." (dead men tell no tales) or disappear.

The only thing bugging me is the shapeshifting corpse tilemap problem.

Ok, well it shouldn't do that changing thing. Unless you're using a Move Command telling the Gaurd to actually move. BUT, to easly fix this problem, use the Lock Faceing Option and it should fix it, no matter what it will stay as that Graphic, even when it's moving. It should work!
